What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

January - early March is the best winter wheeling time if you want to cross rivers (frozen over generally by then). If river crossing isn't your thing then earlier in the fall/winter is good since a lot of our trails are impassible due to snow depth. One of the trails I wanted to run in March had over 70" of snow still.

 

And I'm putting together a lot of trail info for up here. The big ones will be on trailsoffroad.com, but there are tons of other ones that I can hook anyone coming up here with.

I just took my Yakima racks off... temporarily. My new house has really low garage doors. Sucks... My last house had 12ft ceilings.

Ima start wrenching on the truck this weekend so i had remove racks to move it into the garage. It juuuuust fit with enough room to walk around the front.

So I was really bored at work this morning so I spent most of it looking us and marking Forest Service roads at Hoosier National Forest on my phones GPS. We ain't got much that's longer than 1.5 miles much less any that aren't constantly maintained and used by the locals. They just closed a 5 mile long and really technical service road last year... I also found an old road on the map that I can't tell if it's still accessible by vehicle or if it's a bike trail now. Oh well, I plan to head down there and go to the last fire tower left standing there.

 

Any of you guys with 5 speed manuals notice your stick shift getting real hot on long drives? The metal rod under the boot...maybe I just never noticed it before but if I slide the boot down some and touch the metal, it gets so hot I have to pull my hand away.

Normal or issue? I'm not due for an oil change...put Redline MT90 in about 15k ago.

 

This is how I spend a lot of time.
I can find Google Earth my mountain in about 1.5 seconds.

Sadly most the roads I’ve marked off as “Driven”. Whole new mountain next month though so that’s good.

Mine does. I think I asked around once and was told it was normal.

 

Mine does that. Especially the 4wd stick gets hot.

 

Good to know. Yeah it's hard to tell if it does unless you slide the boot down but when it really heats up I can feel warmth through the boot. Been more obvious now with the hot weather, don't ready notice it so much when it's cool outside.

Swapped my idler pulley. It was more annoying to take my skids off then it was to replace the pulley. Probably 20 mins total and 2 beers. I’m glad it won’t be squealing anymore. I felt like all eyes were on me everytime it did it in a parking lot or something lol

These are All Pro Expos. First time was my new OME Dakars, second time was taking those out a few weeks later to add an AAL to them. After a few months of dealing with all kinds of noises and popping coming from them and sagging under weight, I've decided to ditch the Dakars for these.

I got these for $350 so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see if they work better, if they do I'll sell the Dakars and hopefully break even.
