    Hi Guys,

Not new to the forum, but have not post ever.

Questions: I'm looking to trick-out my 2008 Taco, 4cyl. (mostly stock now) to more off roading, but still pave driving too. Here's the list of Shit/stuff I'd like to do...

#1: Change front (with winch) and back bumper to off-road:

#2: change the stock bench seat out to bucket seats..Ya, I know it's not recommended...

    #3: sunroof,...Ya, I know it's not recommended...

#4: good off-road tires (snow), stock rims OK for me...

FYI: I (and wife) like to do back country (mountains SW) camping and hunting, I fabed a rigid metal frame (removable) to the bed and had a local lawning company make a canvas tent shell for the frame, made cots (removable) in the bed, and we love it... Got ride of travel trailer, it's the best of all worlds, we can get in places that few can go camping....I'll post pics at some future point....my point is, on the above list, I do not want to spend a lot on these things, I've been on a few off-road sites, but most are just to out of reach on price. Plus they want to take the order charge my credit card now, and ship in 4-6 weeks....BS!

    Thanks, for any help...

Can someone explain the difference between the "intermittent wiper stalk install" and the wiper stalk that came on my 2010 tacoma sport dc? I have Off, Low, High, and then a little ring that you twist that apparently speeds up or slows down the wipers a little more.
I dont really care for this style.. my last 2 GM trucks had a much different wiper setup. would that be the difference right there? the new truck does NOT have intermittent??

    little confused...

You have the intermittent wiper stalk. From what I hear the ring on the newer ones spin more like the GM stalks... Mine spins the opposite way, but other than that, it's just like the one I had in my 2000 Grand Am

I am not a fan at all of the wiper set up. Rain is never consistantly heavy or light so I am always looking for best "low + medium fast or low + fast" but really, if you go to high, it is pretty much as fast as you need for 99% of harder rain and pointless otherwise. I just need a low, mid, and high setting on the column. Just my opinion

Ok. Maybe youll be some help. The truck is an 09. It has all those nooks and crannies. What wire do I mess with on the brake thing? My trucks wiring is different from my friends and we tried to do it to his. He has lockers and all those things on it. But just not the same wire I had to snip. Everyones tutorial didn't really explain that well. HELP!

Did you cut the wire or splice into it? You don't need to cut the wire in half and use one end for this. You need to keep the wire intact and splice the new switched ground wire into it. (I made that mistake the first time.)

Ok so I splice into the wire but not cut it all the way in half. Check. But on his truck his wire colors are different. Which one would it be? It's 09 with diff lock and trac. And also, so I take the wire that I splice into and run a wire to the switch.... then a wire from the switch to a ground.... right?

    Yes.

I suppose one way to do it would be to look at the wire harness diagram that I posted in the OP ( http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2109419/3 ), and compare to see what color wire you have on pin 20 since you can apparently splice it at the 4WD ECU harness or at the ABS controller. Then you could splice it at the 4WD harness or look for the same color under the hood. Now, I didn't get it working off the 4WD harness, but I may have cut the wire instead of splicing it, and only realized that after I had moved on to the ABS controller and consulted the guy that came up with the mod.

I just thought I’d make an update to this post. I just finished doing this mod on my 2010 Tacoma. It was as easy as claimed except it took me about 45 minutes, I had the beer. Getting those darn covers off was the hardest part. One change to the order of the procedures that I would recommend. Remove the switch from the steering column before you remove the plugs from the wiring harness. If you do this, then you can use the fingernail of your thumb to push down the retaining clip of the plug(s) and slide them loose all in one motion. It was real easy. I ordered my switch on line from 1stToyotaParts.com. The part number was 84652-02610 and the cost was $106.49. Works like a charm! I’d like to thank whoever came up with this DIY mod as I was real unhappy that the truck didn’t come with this as standard equipment.

I was following you last night and was wondering why your high center brake light and back up lights was blinking at the same rate as your wipers!
