    Hello (Tacoma) World,
First post other than new members introduction.

I have been looking around at HARD tri-fold tonneau cover options for my 2018 longbed SR5 and I noticed these on Ebay. There are several sellers of these, claiming to be based in CA but clearly Chinese imports warehoused in CA.. I have not seen any real reviews of them...just an occasional "great product" and nothing else.

    here is typical ad:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lock-Tri-F...m=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=m570.l1313&LH_TitleDesc=0

I believe all of the $325.99 covers are for the same product but with different poor descriptions by different sellers.

Some of the ads say "bolt on" and then later in ad say "clamps". Sometimes they say "no drilling". NONE of the ads have pics of the clamping system but some pics show some kind of handle on the cover. Do these things make use of the utility rails?

And some say aluminum and some say aluminum frame and sometimes "vinyl" is in the description. Not sure what it really is. Language barrier or scam?

I'm just looking for a hard cover for a little more security than soft so I can store a few not so valuable things in the bed, keeping them fairly dry...but trying not to get ripped off. These are significantly cheaper than other hard covers out there but maybe appropriate for light use?

Anyone have experience with these things? Did you purchase one of these?

    thanks...phil

I have an OEM Toyota tri fold and it’s great quality, I’d look for someone local selling one. I’ll be selling mine later this winter when I go with a Snugtop.

More than likely they clamp. I had a tonno pro hard cover on my truck and it was nice because it had the vinyl on top with aluminum panels below. The clamp system didn't quite hold up to the bounciness of offroading though.

that is about what i was getting out of the descriptions. my use would not be off road and likely on and off - use it for long trips etc. i'll post if i go for it. not today :)
    thanks.
edit: these may be relatively new. purchases on ebay all seem to be late july 2018. would be great if someone that bought one saw this thread.

If you aren't tm using it as a permanent thing then the clamps would probably be good. No point in spending too much money for something that won't stay on the truck all the time.

Phil, hate to tell you man but you really get what you pay for. I'm getting ready to buy a new bike, I can get a Walmart mountain bike for $250 or a Trek Full Stache 29+ for $4100. Both can be ridden. One will last and one will break in the first few miles.
My point is if you want to buy new, pay the price and get a good one. If you don't have the cash then save up and get it later. Or, wait and buy a good one used.

    hi hiPSI,
yeah..that is what i am expecting. Since these things just appeared on ebay (i think) and in general i think hard covers are overpriced...I was hoping to snag someone that actually saw one of these things and had an opinion of them...but i realize it is low probability that opinion would be good...never know though...worth a try...

    hi keith,
thanks. yes i have a long bed. if he has a short bed, it is possible my fault for confusion since i may have fouled the link earlier today.
i fixed it up about 1/2 hour ago when i noticed it was a link to a shortbed...could have sworn the link was
to a longbed..oh well, that might be this year's mistake :)

lol "Yeah, welcome to TW, where we seem to have an above average population of dickheads."
i have been participating in vehicle forums for 20 yrs. it seems to come with the territory. but plenty of good folks too.

I was just looking at the trucks listed in yours and his profiles never looked at the link
Figured I would let you know before you got to the point of trying to put his on and wondered why it was so short

    Phil-
Looks identical to the one i received. Came dented and over was not a good fit. I had this cover on the truck for a week and ended up going back to a soft Gator Trifold. I have a long bed too, and ended up getting a deal on a Bakflip G2. Really do get what you pay for. Buy once, cry once.

I went through the same dilemma. Bought the rough country. Same as the Leer Trilogy but cheaper without led lights inside. Very satisfied.

I'm glad to see this. I just started a tonneau thread not realizing this one was here already. I like rough country stuff and I was looking at that cover. Any cons to it?
