Sorry, that didn't come across in your post.

I've seen shattered side windows with tint. It was no big deal. Just a bunch of small bits held together. Not really any different than a shattered front windshield.

The reason that cops bust folks is only because it's the law. Just one of the things that they can use to cover a quota. They just don't care about safety issues such as that, other than seeing the hands of folks they are walking up to. The fact is that many cops I know have limo tint windows in their personal cars (we used to live a couple houses away from a Statie and got to know most of his coworkers) and there are several unmarked State Patrol cars around here with with limo tint (all unmarked plates here start with WSP).

So, the easy way to have tint and not get wrote up for it is to simply wind down the front windows before you even come to a stop. Easy.

cops are cock suckers here. as soon as they see it even if you roll your windows down they will ticket you or take their key and mark up the tint.

Wow! I thought they were pretty bad around here, mainly about speeding. I guess I was wrong? They will do "special enforcements" for various revenue generating reasons around here. I've been pulled over with illegal tint in the past. Never had a problem, thankfully.

Getting a matching tint on the Tacos front windows is on the mod list.

I’ve got my whole windshield done in 40% with Viper window film and love it. Really helps with the heat in Arizona. I’ve had my whole truck done like this for over a year and no cops yet. Knock on wood.

Well. Looks like it could pass in Ohio. What do you think?

    Here’s the regulations
Ohio window tint laws include the following:

    • Tint on the windshield must be non-reflective and allow greater than 70% of the available light to pass through the glass.

    • Tint on the front side windows must allow over 50% of the available light to pass through the glass.

    • Any tint darkness can be used on the back side and rear window.

    • Reflective tint cannot be any more reflective than a typical window.

    • Each window with tint must have a sticker affixed between the glass and the film identifying it as being within the legal limits.

    Legit?

I love when people complaint about cops enforcing regulations when they've knowingly done something illegal to their vehicle.

True, but. . . It's just tint. Kind of like outlawing sunglasses. At least that is how I look at it?

The problem, from my experience generally isn't the cops (but not always), it is the lawmakers who make the laws they have to enforce.

Ultimately, no one likes to be told they can't do something. Some people take it personally and would rather hate the person or organization enforcing it, while others can step back and realize they got pulled over because of their own actions. It comes down to integrity.

In Alberta, zero tint is allowed on the windshield and front driver and passenger windows. Look up the TSA.

Also, cops aren't allowed to deface tint. They can feel as confirmation that its there but that's it.

I'm referring to all the laws they make that are stupid (which there are a lot of them). I personally try not to break any laws even if I don't agree with them. But when it is a stupid law, it is the lawmakers, not the cops.

pretty much the point im trying to make right there, most the time there on a little power trip so hey what are you going to do tell a cop not to deface your tint? probably get shot or arrested.

    This isnt the states. :p
You make a complaint, simple as that. Acting professional through the stop and during the compliant process goes a long way as well.
