Man, I’m still trying to decide if I should install the TRD Pro suspension I picked up a few months ago, or sell it. I just put new tires on it, reupped the registration for the year, I have one year of payments left, it’d be silly to get rid of the truck. Since I’m not getting rid of it, i don’t have to worry about any sunk cost there.

If I do toss it on there, I’ll need to go grab some leaf springs to maintain the factory rake, as I prefer that, and I’m still leaning towards the Dakars.

On a side note, I think the money made from selling the Cougar will be going towards some dirt bikes next year. I’m leaning more towards a dual sport for me, KTM 690 maybe? If they ever come out with the 390 Adventure, that might be worth a look too. I could go the WR route, too. I haven’t had a dirt bike since my old XR250. My son currently fits on a 50, but might outgrow one by next year.

I sat on the duke 390 and liked it a lot. If they came out with a adventure 390 I might have to buy it.

I'm curious to see what happens with the 390 adventure, but also been eyeing the BMW 310.

I’ve sat on a CRF250 Rally and liked that, too. I haven’t seen the little BMW in person. I need to check that one out.

The Duke 390 is a fun bike, it handles really well. I don’t know much about the BMW 310, but one of the guys in our thread just got one. I’ll find out.

I’d say go wr but then again I’m a little bias. Wish they made a wr450r or wr350r.

Been kicking around the idea of a wr250 as well but I think I want something more street oriented and a lower seat height so my wife can learn to ride on it. She wants to get her motorcycle endorsement in the next couple of years.

The wr is quite streetable. I ride to work almost every day. Added a few teeth to the rear for more power but I still cruse 55-70 ok
Wr250r, the f is a lot higher maintenance
But it is the tallest of the 250’s

Height is the main downside for my 5'3" tall wife. Even the duke I would have to lower it for her. I have the KTM 2 smoker for dedicated trail rides.

Yep. I’ll probably toss it on there at some point. I’ve just been lazy.

@thefatkid hey Brian, you know the brake light on the cab for first gens. I had to pull mine off in order to move the cage around for welding. I'm about to put it back up. Can I use any black silicone or do you have any recommendations. I see if that dosen't seal right it's going to get a lot of waater into the cab there.

Toyota uses some sore of high density adhesive foam for sealing. It allows for some expansion differences between the plastic and steel. I think you would be ok with a non-hardening type silicon, not sure.

I tried to use them for black oxide impacts and they dont like the porous surface. With the chrome plated smooth surface they work way better. also twist instead of pull has been my rule.

Put it on. I have 0 regrets about swapping mine out, it rides so much better than stock. Im running it with toytec boss leafs and the toytec 2” perch spacer. Next time I replace tires, I will do UCA’s and probably LCA’s.

I have now learned if I make bad life decisions and get face tattoos I can move to South Dakota and get a job.
