Was finally able to scout a part of the national forest I have been eyeing up for archery season. Less then an hr into the trip I found a solid dead head in a bedding area. It’s crazy the number of deer down here. Smaller bodies but man o man there are piles of deer! Looking forward to using this year to learn the public land and scout, maybe get lucky and release an arrow! EF7D3201-6989-44A8-8A16-CE1804E0B494.jpg

Yeah welcome to SC. Where everyone shoots anything and everything they see because there was never a limit. Hopefully this new tag system allows some deer to actually grow.

In co-ordination with City of Tega Cay, Ft. Mill School District and South Carolina DHEC— Z-man led his perfectly executed project. Total of 29 man hours just today- 31 storm drain stencils and handed out “Clean Water” awarness book marks to 250 homes.

ASPL, SEALS Staff, NYLT, OA Brother and now Eagle Scout candidate.

I could not be any more proud of my 13 year old Z-Man!

That dead one I found was a 3.5yr old. The “if it’s brown it’s down” mentality was the same in pa. I’m holding out down here for a 3.5yr old or older. Could careless if I don’t shoot a buck let alone the 5 the state says you can. Can’t belive zone 2 you can get 10 tags total.

Be interesting to see after one year of hunting if there really are that many deer down here. I’m all about some quality deeer management and growing big ones. I’m looking for a chunk of land hard right now to build and hunt on. People would be surprised if ya pass deer and don’t shoot the first buck ya see they can get big even with lots of pressure. Just gotta give em a chance to grow.

Look into the QDMA (Quality Deer Management Association) program that DNR has for alot of their WMAs. A lot of those are good for archery hunting. I think that may be a nationwide program?

I will usually shoot a smaller buck or doe at the beginning of the season just for meat and then usually take my time and be patient after that. I always try to not shoot any does after the rut. If a lot of people would just follow that single rule then you'd see twice as many deer.

Very nice, hope that works out for you. I’ve been on the same unit for a year and a half now and it’s the only place I’ve worked since graduating. I’m thinking I’ll just stay there while I’m in NP school which is something I’d like to start in the next year or so. That’s the plan at least

The country boys here in South Carolina will shoot any deer they see. Even Bambi less than a day old.

I wish it would have worked out for everyone this weekend. My wife decided to put herself back on the schedule today so I went today instead. There's always next time. I hope y'all have a good day tomorrow!

You were right btw. Gulches Skip was adamant about mud tires, first timers having a guide, short wheel base, etc. He caters to buggies, jeeps and "experienced" drivers not "amateurs". He doesn't inspect though, so just say you're in a Tacoma with mud terrains and be on your way. @ChamYota was on ATs and did just fine.

My little "babytaco" killed it today! I just need to get the clutch figured out on hill climbs.

It was great to see all of y'all again as well. I wish time had worked out better and it wasn't so flipping hot and humid.

I didn't notice Z-man's hat until now. Love going there. There are quite a few of the Charlotte guys that go on the regular to ride the bike trails.
