@Braves95, do you think this is worth a replacement if or when mine decides to take a dump? these clutches from what i hear aren't really lasting like most of older yota trucks i've ever owned? i'd rather not replace factory garbage with more factory garbage if i can help it...just looking for in the future if i have to get it replaced might as well upgrade for better parts, right?

Just picked up my first taco last night! The manual is what drove me to the car and ultimately is what made me purchase it! Couldn’t be happier

I only replaced mine because the throw out bearing blew up. I thought the same thing and it's really a big difference.

It doesn't hurt that the URD parts cost less than the OEM either. If something crops up for me, I will go that route.

With some of the bearing warnings, I checked that mine was not rotating while idling.

Only thing is you WILL need to stay with the OEM throw out bearing. Owner stated don't trust any others. And he doesn't make a aftermarket sleeve and bearing.

With the problems with the FJ 6MT, seems like our Tacomas will face the same problems

    Thank god for URD

I am still chugging along at 69k on my Pro, all oem drivetrain, no issues yet

That's why I test drive my first Toyota truck. Had a Cherokee sport that I had to get rid of and the only other manual (used) I liked was the yota truck. Almost two years into my second new one.

    I love that it's a M/T!
Yeah the gear ratios could use a little tweaking, 2nd and 6th, especially Reverse. (Must be worse for the A/T guys).
And the clutch feels like I'm wearing 4 condoms.
But finding a truck as good as these Tacoma's with a M/T,
Still makes me feel like I'm 25 again.

Now when I want to feel 18 again, I fire up my '69 Z28 with a 4 speed M22 "Rock Crusher" transmission and mechanical linkage clutch system and "Be one with the machine"
But to me, the full mechanical system makes it much easier to feel exactly what my clutch is doing. Makes it more "precise" too.

I would love it if they came out with a "Heritage" version of the FJ and the Tacoma,
    Mech Clutch linkage.
Mech Shift lever for 4L 4H-2H
Mech Shift/cable for front and rear lockers
    Manual locking hubs.
Minimize dependence on electronics and mount all computers as high or higher than the radio. Seal all other electronic/electrical connections.
If they did that to the Pro, to me that would justify the 10K+ price increase. Not the Lights, Skid and Shocks.

I don't think the Auto companies have figured out yet,
that the people that buy M/T now a days don't do it because they are $1000 cheaper than an A/T....

    True words!

With the torque converter on the ATs, the reverse ratio really doesn't matter. Although, there are enough posts about overheating the ATF.

The fault is not the hydraulic clutch. I have had them on other MTs that we owned and prefer them for being low maintenance and self-adjusting. They all transmitted tons of feel. It was slightly annoying to adjust cable clutches for seasonal changes (twice a year / no big deal, but . . .). In reality, it's the damn accumulator that is screwing up the feel.

My 18yr old hooligan is playing in the rain with the Taco when there is nothing in the bed and my motorcycle. I ride the piss out of it and still get 40mpg in the commute.

And now all the guys are going back re-reading about @PROseur cuming on the freeway and are more comfortable with the fact that they liked it...
