So at dealer for the free 15k service. Have had my truck about 18 months. Noticed some serious cupping on the inside of the front tires in last few months so I said take a look please. They come back with. “ Looks like you go off road”. Me, “Well yeah it’s the name of the truck”

So I go on some hard packed dirt parking lots pretty often around were i am and once we did a pretty rough trail in some sand near mono lake. But FML. Do I need an alignment every time I go off-road ? Cause if that’s the case that sucks.

He also wanted to sell me 2 new geolanders for $200 each. I told him no just move the fronts to rear within next year I’m doing a lift and tires and will re align then as well. Alignment was $80.

Side rant checked out the 2018 Tacoma while here and they have the little nubs on the passenger side to hold down floor mats securely. That’s some serious BS the 17 doesn’t have those.

Never heard of alignment after every off-road unless you hit some major stuff

You can need an alignment on ANY vehicle a few miles after it's done, if you hit the right obstacle.

Assuming no steering issues, it's another reason tire rotations every 5k is good practice. It helps monitor the potential need. Have your tires ever been rotated?

At a minimum alignments are a good idea every year or 10k miles or so, unless one is just an interstate cruiser. It's a wear / maintenance item.

    Wow. Speechless.
