actually, mine does slip. Less than 3000k on my 2018 dclb or. If on any type of incline, the truck will roll back, like the torque converter has not locked up. then there will be tranny chatter and then harsh engagement. It does concern me.
Dealer has had it twice, but only states that they can not reproduce the event.

The torque converter shouldn't be locked up at idle when not moving. If it did, the engine would stall.

Instead of trying to use the torque converter to keep it from rolling backwards on an incline, try using the brakes. Your driving is the problem in what you described; not the truck.

really? That is using the brakes. That is from brake pedal, to throttle.

Simply put, I don't believe you. But yes, the torque converter is supposed to slip at idle when the truck isn't moving. That is how the truck can sit and not kill the engine. If it were locked up, it would be like a manual in gear, with the clutch pedal up.

It is right there in his first post. He expects the torque converter to "lock up" and hold the truck on a hill. It won't. I promise he is coming off the brakes, waiting to let it roll back, then mashing the gas. The trans is in second or third gear as that is what these take off in, then downshifts causing the "harsh engagement".

EDIT1: At lunch I found the best incline I could (it is north Texas, so not much). I stopped on it, and let off the brake. The truck pulled forward. Tonight I need to run an errand near a big hill. On Green Oaks just west of Ascention in Arlington. I'll stop on it and repeat. I suspect it will roll forward, not backward, or just sit there heating up the trans fluid.
