Modified suspension broke

It also occurs to me that perhaps the new shocks' bushing type mount won't allow the articulation that perhaps my setup needs due to the location of the mounts. Will it blow out the shock by not allowing it to rotate in a direction it needs to?

 

Call fox or down south motorsports. Should be able to just pop in new spacers

 

No that won’t affect that.

 

I'll try Fox. Downsouth couldn't help me and recommended I grind it down but is sending me some assorted smaller bushings they had. When you say spaces are you referring to the urethane bushings? Or the spacers that were part of the spherical bearing setup I had on my air shocks?

Just to verify, what you're saying is that under the bushings I have on my new Fox shocks are spherical bearings/Heim bearings or whatever they call them, like the picture above? And if I remove my bushings, I will find a bearing like that? The sleeve in my bushing seems one piece, though, and doesn't allow for articulation, so are you sure that's what it looks like under there?

I removed the bushings/sleeves and they are hourglass bushings with a single sleeve pushed in. So you can push the sleeve out with a small and a large socket inside of a large bench vise (I really don't recommend a C-clamp like I used at first, lacking a vise), followed by a couple more large sockets (1 1/8" or 1 1/16" work great, depth is good) and your large socket from before. The smallest sleeve that fox offers is 1 3/8" (not the 1 1/4" I was looking for) so the tech verified that I should just take an angle grinder/bench grinder and reduce the sleeve length, and to make life easier, some of one of the sides of the bushing as well. Then a rubber hammer and probably some Super Lube on the outer face of the bushing will finish the job. I'll post pics when I get it all back together.

Everything is remounted. Had some health issues slow me down for a while but I’m back baby. Got my bushings and sleeves ground down to 1.22” and slipped em in there and tightened it up. Had to compress the bushing a little bit to get to even 40 ft-lbs. not happy with that. They seem to give too easy. What torque would you guys go to?

Unfortunately I somehow missed that the old hardware was junk. The PO must have used whatever he had on hand. What would you guys recommend buying for the eyelet mounts? I have the old stuff in there but don’t much like it. Uneven number of washers etc and one locknut and one not. These would be your typical 1/2” bolts for a 1.25” inner mount. I forget the outer dimension.

Also the reservoir tube has a straight connector instead of a 90 degree and so it sticks straight towards my damn tire. Not happy with that suspension shop whatsoever. You guys think this is a danger? Have to run the truck up on an incline to see what happens when I flex one side.
