So I have a few chips on my truck and I want to take care of them. The question is does the quicksand taco have clear coat on them?

I know that the metallic color do, but I read somewhere in here that the quicksand and white colors don’t have clear coat on the paint.

    Stock for now
I just found a chip near the rear driver door. Some idiot was using a bushcutter along the road. I would think that the clear coat would have saved the paint, but I’m guessing the clear is really thin.

I have a chip on my door's edge and driver side fender also.
I heard the paint in general is very thin.

I've had a White Tacoma and comment that it does not in fact have a clear coat. In the sunshine state it required a lot of waxing to keep it shinny. All the metallic Tacomas I have had are far easier to keep clean and shinny. I would hazard a guess the Quicksand color is also a single stage.

Even the more expensive Land Cruisers came with single stage white.

Yes, it has clear coat on it. Car manufacturers don’t make cars without clear coat on them, they would look like total shit after just a little bit of driving and their warranty costs would be enormous.

The thin paint is for weight reduction. Plus it puts them hp’s to good use in quick speed.

Seriously, I definitely say we have clear coat though.

FWIW that is Tundra info. Plus, you can’t believe everything you read on the internet.

They are built in the same factory. Also.... Toyota does it across the board with their super white paints.

Why would two different people contact Toyota and Toyota tell them that? And what would you gain by lying about it? Further more I have friends that work at Toyota they say the same thing. Search more if you don't believe it...

If you have friends that work at Toyota why would you rely on the forums to guide your posts. Either way, I love my truck and don’t give two shits if it was secretly only spray painted! OR Taco with shitty paint for life!!!

I wouldn’t say “CruiserDan”, bud. I’ve contributed more posts in the “Keep a Word, Drop a Word thread” than you have on this whole forum lil fancy boy. I was being funny at first, but at this point fuck the paint, your research and stupid comments.

You can take your comments and your 2018 and ride off into the sunset if your TSS will let you.

White paint is almost always single-stage, unless it's on something like a mountain bike, where the clear goes on over the decals.

Are the QS, and cement colors the same type of paint?

I also saw a QS Tacoma at a local glass shop I don't know if it was there for repair, or an employee's vehicle.

I don’t understand your side of the argument here. He was actually using some helpful info that has more credibility than an average member’s opinion and he was replying to your comments with more support for himself since you’re so against it.

Also, even if he only has 20-something posts, he’s been a member since 2013 which is a lot longer than your 2017 membership.

And just a helpful tip... I would try to establish your dominance in a truck forum by saying you’ve posted a lot in a topic that has nothing to do with trucks... o_O

Now I’ll find my way back to the first gen section where people don’t have all these stupid arguments over nothing... and you can take your comments and your 2017 and ride off into the sunset with all your fancy 3rd gen gadgets.
