That is a very very very old picture of the truck when it was still 99% stock. I had the original wheels, original fender flares, stock crank windows and manual everything, original Toyota grille and headlights, original California plates, no nerf bars, and most importantly, it’s still a 2WD PreRunner.

It took me and two other people the better part of an hour to put that freakin’ door back on. I never realized how hard it is to align properly and hold it there.

Here’s the door sitting inside my house.

Are you still overseas? I have a Hilux question and was hoping you might come across our truck’s overseas twin.

Got the dash cut and back in for testing the location of the A pillar part of the cage. Everything fits pretty good. Not perfect but really close.

I am still in Manila, yes. I get back on the 1st. I actually stopped by a Toyota dealership around here when the chauffeur needed a new key battery for his Fortuner.

I’m dropping by a auto scrapping district on Monday. Hoping I can find a 3RZ Supercharger or something equally as cool. Wonder if the TSA would get mad if I tried to carry on a 1KZ-TE.

I am curious as to the import rules for auto parts if you’re not shipping them. That would be unfortunate if I did find a 3RZ supercharger, and US customs confiscated it.

What module is that? You sure can - it’s through hole so it should be relatively simple. Once you get into SMD/BGA soldering on more modern devices is when you run into issues.

US import laws are brutal. They crush perfectly good cars at the border that are imported against the law. Whether it’s a 20 year old EU spec Ford Fiesta, or a 5 year old EU spec Lamborghini - it’s getting crushed.

If you come across a first gen (not even sure if that’s correct terminology) Hilux can you take a look inside at the headliner and see if it’s like a Tacomas? I know these things are pretty similar but there’s some pretty big differences in certain parts on the two.

Your 5 lug? Pull the driveshaft. Too many unknowns. Or chance it and cross your fingers. But I've towed mt Toyotas to sac with drive wheels on the ground. No known damage. And I went way over 55 mph...lol

I’ll go see if I can find one old as our trucks. Most of the Hiluxes here in the city are brand new, I only ever saw old Hilixes used by farmers in the countryside.

I’m just curious, why the headliner?

No insurance. Way too expensive, remember since I’m under 25 I pay a significant premium. When I eventually transfer it to California I have to get insurance, but that won’t be for a while.

Unfortunately I don’t. I really do need to get a AAA membership.

I was planning on having the frame horns extended and welding a dinghy hitch to it and towing it with the PreRunner.

Found a Hilux overhead console I like online and not sure if it would fit up without having gaps and looking shitty. Please don’t go out of your way for it or anything, just if you happen to see one. Figured it may be like here where you can find a first gen in every other parking lot.

I’ll see if I can find one. Surprisingly old trucks aren’t as common as I thought - everyone gets the next and the best thing as soon as it comes out. Can you post a link to the console? I might see if I can find one at the scrapper.

You would be shocked to find out the most common truck here is a 2015-2018 Ford Ranger.
