    Hello all!

I am looking to apply sealant on my 2018 TRD Off-road to clean it up. Currently, I am thinking about using Chemical Brother Jet seal. My question is, will sealants leave residue on the black fender flairs the off-road models have? If so, how can it be cleaned off?

I have a 2018 OR and I used Wolfgang Exterior trim sealant. I wouldn't use Jet seal on my trim for 2 reasons.

    1. It's primarily marketed for applications of hard surfaces with clear coats (I.E. Paint, CF, etc.)

    2. I don't view Chemical Guys products highly compared to the competition. Other than their Mr Pink Foam, I can't think of any product they make that can't be beaten by a competitor.

    This is just my $0.02

Don't use a sealant, use something like aerospace 303, which is for vinyl/rubber/plastic to protect against UV.

No, get something that will stay. 303 is overrated. There are sealants out there that won’t stain plastic like Opti-seal.

I'd use Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant from Autogeek. You won't be disappointed.

Opti-seal will stay if it rains. 303 will be on the ground after it gets washed off. 303 is only popular cause it’s cheap. There are better products out there that last longer.

Opti won't darken black trim, will it? I was under the impression that it might seal it up a bit, but it won't give it that deep black dressed look of a dedicated trim sealant like Wolfgang.

OP- Duragloss makes a nice polymer trim sealant that is very cost effective. It's a solvent base that cleans old product/road grime off your trim and leaves a durable polymer sealant. One of my faves (in addition to Wolfgsng)

I use CQuartz DLux on my fender flares and all exterior plastics. Lasts up to one year.

No, it won’t darken trim. I recommended it due to OP asking about a sealant and considering he has a 2018. The best product ideally would be a trim coating due to the longevity.

Short answer- yes some "paint sealants" will leave white residue on black plastics and some will not, as some wipe off easy.

If you lived close I'd happily give you a mostly full bottle.

It's worthless where it rains. Therefore it can't even stand a car washing. Making it about the most useless product I ever put on a drop top or tonneau.

It's kinda ok in the interior (no rain) but Klasse is wayyyyyyy better in there.

Don't get it on them to begin with. Painters tape is your friend.

Just buy Wolfgang's trim sealant and be done. It's safe, proven, quality, protects from UV, and will bead water. It's the kitty's titties.

^^ yep. It's just a straight up winner. I get about a year on my tonneau with it. Clean trim well with a diluted APC before applying for best longevity.

Do NOT use Jet Seal on black plastic. It will stain and you will have one heck of a time ever getting it out.

I use Jet Seal and its not forgiving on black plastics. Its an incredible paint sealer though.
