@TPDTaco Cleghorn and JB couldn’t be more opposite. Cleghorn easy fire road, Bull difficult built rigs only crawling trail.
Not many trails in between up in the mountains.
Only a few I can think of that I just ran. Heartbreak ridge, tip top mountain,Jacoby canyon(closed since last years fire), the squeeze and 3N08 is kinda fun.
So to break it down 80% of the trails are easy fire roads, 15% hard trails, 5% moderate

Hard trails you shouldn’t attempt without a locker would be Holcomb creek, lower larga flats, John Bull, dishpan, white mountain, gold mountain

While I don’t generally support cameras, something had to be done at that shitshow.

Why not just continue on the 15 north and hit up “Stoddard Wells”.Scrorching hot out there these days but a blast. You got “Slash X” race cafe for grub and beverages as well.

I'm rewatching Sons now, been several years since I watched it and I liked it a lot back then. The first few episodes are painful but it gets good...but yeah I agree thats really the only show he's done well and even that took some time.

I have seen a stock 1st gen 4x4 TRD with a rear locker on 31's make it through JB without too much problem. He was with Wyatt and a few hella built RST trucks, so that guy was in good hands.

On the other hand, I was in my 71 Land Cruiser on 35's with ARB f/r. I woulda been fine except that the carburetor on the Cheby 350 in it could not keep the motor on at the worst fucking times. It was one of the sketchiest off-roading moments of my life and took some fancy clutch wizardry on my part to make it out. I ended up in a cloud of clutch smoke and a large crowd, but I finally made it out.

Oh, and to top it off, my power steering went out during the gatekeeper. That will learn you real fast to break your habit of crossing your arms on the steering wheel and to keep them at 9 and 3, if you value your wrists enough to not want them shattered.

Stalling at the wrong time with manual has always been a fear of mine on some trails. Clutch Start Cancel switch makes it less risky but still. Saw a video of an old t4R that lost his brake booster on a steep hill at Rowher and nearly flew off a cliff before the brakes came back and he skidded to a stop in time.

I never worry about it. As long as the rest of the truck does what it is supposed to do, I can do my part with the clutch. I was literally having to start the thing and clutch dump to bounce over shit with absolutely no finesse or being able to choose a line for a few seconds until the motor stalled again. On top of that, with no power steering, whatever direction the wheels were pointed in when the motor died, that was the direction I was launching in on the clutch dump. Sketchy as fuck.

It was probably around 2013. It was difficult then, even if this guy chose the easier lines. He coulda been on 33's, but it was an overall stock truck.

Don’t forget how much the driver comes into play.

I had a similar experience last time I ran white mountain, very rarely do I get genuinely scared but that was def one to remember. Uphill steep ass off camber rock garden dumping the clutch to make it a few feet at a time, stall out, and repeat:annoyed:

Sounds exactly like my situation. Never in my life did I sweat so much while only moving 20' up a mountain.

Usually walk right up the section I had issues on so I never noticed how bad it could get. But hanging out on the side of the hill for 15 min I realized how sketch it really was. My truck isn’t carbd but it was acting like it

Speaking of my truck running like shit I’ve been chasing this issue for far too long. One thing leads to another. Now I’m down to a bad fpr or a bad vsv causing the thing to run suuuper rich all the time. So now I deleted the vsv hoping it does the trick

The worst part was the lack of power steering, which added a different element to my problems. When the motor dies while I am teetering back and forth on boulders without being able to steer around them. I was physically and mentally drained that day afterwards. My forarms felt like I had been using a jack hammer or a 7" angle grinder nonstop all day.

I am about to head over to my friend's shop where my truck ia at to finally start taking apart the motor so I can get it running.
