    Was that a replacement pump?

Dealer just replaced my pump and valves, so I'm wondering if that little foam filter is in the replacement pumps.

I just recently did the uni mod but in the process I cracked the inlet cover (cover that the filter goes on with the single screw). I was wondering if anyone knows if I can buy a replacement cover only? I was able to JB weld it but now at start up it almost sounds like a turbo spooling up, no codes or anything but it is much louder than before and I think it may be sucking air though the crack.

I noticed it sounds louder with the filter. You might just be noticing that?

Does anyone know if the air pump is constantly running while the truck is running? I ran the truck with the cover off for a few minutes and didn't see any movement.

It only runs at start up. And then only below a certain temperature I think. On a 2013 or later it also runs at shutdown regardless of temperature.

Mod done. Super easy and no screwdrivers needed to release the round inlet cover. Just pull straight back on it and it pops off. My original filter was in like new condition and I have 70k on my 2013. I'm wondering what the catalyst is that causes some to degrade and others to look and feel brand new.

Oh well. It's done and now the air pump sounds like a jet engine!

I did this mod this week, and I have a question. I've read here that it's slightly noisier with the mod, but, mine seems to be quieter? It might just be me, you know how when you do a "Mod", you expect a difference. LOL. Truck runs great and I'm glad I did the mod. My filter looked fine until I lifted it out, very brittle and little pieces came off when I touched it.

Do they sell the cover? I want to do this but with smog in CA that unifilter would fail the visual.

Keep your old filter and switch it back when you need to get it inspected.

Here in NM we are probably going to get a new democrat governor so would not be surprised if the state
started doing inspections state wide. No more easy gun laws either. I kept the gunk filter and outside cap.

No one knows what this thing does.... only that its really expensive to replace and has something to do with emissions.

Actually nearly everyone knows exactly what it does. It is a common system in most vehicles these days.

The fact that this particular implementation is a hunk of junk and when it breaks the ECU needlessly cripples the entire vehicle into limp mode is what is mysterious...
