    I was joking at first.

Also, my reference to how many posts should tell you something. The rest of my posts have been a part of more legit threads. Thanks for trying to settle stuff, but again I was joking in my previous posts to him. Then, he’s started being a child and name calling. Oh and by the way, it sounds like he may have been wrong in the end anyway. Thanks though good buddy.

One more thing, you don’t have these issues in the 1st gen forums because you are too busy starting nonsense in the 3rd gen forums.

When did he start name calling?

“CruiserDan”. Either way it’s all good. I’ve said my piece and I was joking at first but not I’m back in my relaxing zen mode. Lol.

Ye, I also believe they are 2 staged. Like the bottom portion of the doors seem to have cleat coat orange peel to them. It is just the rest of the truck has super thin coats.

That is the rubberized undercoating, most newer Toyotas have them(since maybe the 90s?((located on the rocker panels and the bottom of doors). Maybe the 3rd Gens are the first time they are using 2-stage white. But the 2nd gens in 040 Super White were all single stage. Like I said before I have owned one, I went through this before when I was trying to color match my ARB are rear swing out tire carrier. I knew for a long time they did this on Toyota Land Cruisers (having owned 5). I would have thought it would have been 2 stage as well being newer and only sold in the U.S. market. The MSRP was also cheaper for the white vehicles as well.

The only reason I could see them using 2 stage paint on the 3rd gen is because they have introduced a few non-metallic colors to the line up ( cement, quicksand etc etc...). Which I hope for the owners and Toyota's sake they have. Whites won't fade but they will get dull, single stage paint color will fade in the sun.

I think your info might be out of date on the clear coat.
Cement is metallic, and I believe quicksand is (although I haven’t checked the paint code of that).

Cement is pearl, not metallic, but pearl has a 2nd stage clear. There's really no disputing that Toyota's Superwhite doesn't have a 2nd stage clear. It only comes up when someone pops in a thread claiming otherwise without any knowledge other than saying, I saw a shiny one, so it definitely has a 2nd stage clear.

An easy way to tell, if the paint name reads metallic or pearl, it has a 2nd stage clear, if not, it doesn't.

Ok, metallic and pearl is similar to a layman like me, both have “bits in the paint”...:) When I looked at the makeup of the paint code, it had an additive, I assumed metallic, but could have been pearl.

But seriously, I remember reading that :-
Years ago Toyota only put clear on metallic.
Then change to clear on all paint except white.
Then changed to clear on everything.

Not that I really care, but is that inaccurate?

Hey so I finally called Toyota. For the quicksand color it does have clear coat on them. Also informed that the touch up paint comes premix with clear coat. Something I learned today. I hope this helps you guys.
