Don’t kid yourself, auto reviewing is a business, and all of these shills, be they “pro-Toyota” or “anti-Toyota” are paid for their opinions. Sometimes directly, and sometimes indirectly (exclusive access to new releases, corporate retreats to view the latest models, links to their YouTube channel...etc). Every last one of them is on the take in one form or another, so the whole thing is basically bullshit. It costs GM, Honda, Toyota, and anyone else next to nothing to buy these guys out when there is so much money at stake.

The only review at all worth reading is sales figures. Full stop. If people like a vehicle, they say so to their friends and family and word gets out. Ridgeline doesn’t sell, even when the shills keep rating it “best truck ever” because it is a shitty pickup and no one likes it. The Tacoma is a great pickup that everyone loves, even the complainers on TW secretly wouldn’t have it any other way, which is why they can’t keep them on the lot.

Just my two bits. Don’t believe the hype......it’s all fake news.

They do it to get a rise out of people. That's their agenda. Sure, some of what they post is true but thats what media is these days. Drawing the most attention.

Unfortunately everything you just wrote your isn't grounded in reality. Vehicles can be great and not sell and vehicles can be awful and sell a ton. I mean, look up every product Chrysler has sold in the last 25 years as proof that your product can be terrible but still sell in decent numbers

^^Well said. Part of self promotion is picking the most popular thing and slagging it. A good way to bring ‘brand recognition’ to your crappy review site.

I'm surprised they didn't bitch that the truck wasn't equipped with a standard tampon dispenser.

I know many buyers are concerned with "infotainment" but who really cares about such frivolties in a truck, a compact truck at that.

All those other shortcomings of the 3rd gen can be learned from the forum here. Under powered sure, again it's a compact pick up, on road handling sucks, again it's a compact pick up.

There are plenty of vehicles out there that can address the majority of the bloggers concerns. Purchase those vehicles instead of a Tacoma that has gone almost unchanged in a decade and a half.

I totally disagree. I know a lot of guys who are diehard mopar. They don’t think the vehicles are crappy, they love them, which strengthens my point. If you buy a Chrysler and love it, who is allowed to tell you your choice is a poor one? Based on what?

Most people aren’t stupid. Some are, but not most. Vehicles are an expensive purchase and the vast majority of people are not going to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for something that leaves them utterly disappointed.

Not on my Tacoma, pre e tune head unit, and my speakers are probably close to turning into dust after six years.

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota with the 4.7 V8. Its been in two accidents, repaired and still going strong. My daughter is now using that truck and she has not had any problems with it. I agree with you, who is allowed to tell me I have a bad vehicle? No one, and if Dodge made another mid size truck, I would definitely check it out.

I've driven Ford, GM, Dodge, Freightliner, International, and Hino work trucks. They have all had issues, broken down in days well before the job was done. Most of the time they have always made through the day and didn't leave me stranded on the side of the road.

The older ones always had fewer problems than the newer ones. Better quality and craftsmanship, fewer components that can fail.

Written by people who clearly are a better fit for a Ridgeline, which is fine, but it's almost like they didn't even try to understand the demographic that it targets. Tacoma's are without a doubt an enthusiast truck. It truly targets a pretty direct user and does it the best. If I wanted a truck like a Ridgeline, I would have bought one of those. This push for conformity across automakers is killing what makes certain vehicles unique. Just like this CUV epidemic, I swear they all look the exact same.

I guess they never heard of Lexus, a LS600 would solve their problems.

It handled alright. Handled more car-like, which to me isn’t really a good thing in a truck. The engine and transmission were better than my Tacoma. The ride was smooth on smooth road but it didn’t handle rough spots and potholes as well as my TRDOR. However, the Colorado wasn’t the Z71 package which may have been better in the rougher stuff. There is a set of railroad tracks I always launch on trips to this location, the Colorado bottomed out harshly on it. I’ve had a Nissan Titan and Frontier on previous trips that handled this better. Hard to compare to my Tacoma now that I’ve lifted it (2015 TRD Pro 6112/5160 with Wheeler 3 leaf AAL). My truck handles similar rough stuff very well now at the expense of some on-road comfort.

I agree, CarPlay is nice. The problem I had was the Colorado wouldn’t recognize my Iphones so CarPlay wouldn’t work half the time. I spent 45 minutes at the beginning of my trip trying to get it to work. It worked for a little bit and then stopped. I deleted my phones and then tried again with limited success. Finally on the last day it worked for my 3hour drive to Nashville. Without CarPlay, I couldn’t get either phone to pair with Bluetooth.

My Entune has been pretty good after the last firmware update. It sucked pretty bad when I first got the truck in Jan 2017 but it’s been pretty good after my last major update at the dealer 2-3 months ago. Maybe I’ve just got used to it’s crappiness.

The Tacoma isn’t perfect, but I’d still buy it again over the Colorado/Canyon and Frontier. I had a Frontier Pro 4X a few rentals ago as well. Again, the engine/transmission was better than my Tacoma, but the interior reminded me of my 2004 DCSB TRDOR. it also seemed cramped inside compare to both the Tacoma and Colorado.

I’m holding out for an OV Tune or a factory fix to the Tacoma engine/transmission. Seems some recent updates are getting good reviews. I’ll get them done at my next service. If that doesn’t help, I’ll go OV Tune and likely be completely happy with my Tacoma.

I wish this was true but there is a lot of evidence to the contrary.

Remember, 50% of the population is dumber than the average person.
