Thanks to this great forum I changed my rear diff fluid. It was easy as pie. Old fluid was pretty clean. Last changed by stealership at 85k for some obscene price, changed today at 126k.

I lowered the spare tire and poured the new fluid right in!

    Next week is spark plugs

This is what I hate the most about those caps. Anytime it rains, dirty water streaks down from beneath them and stains my tailgate. I was thinking of applying a layer of silicone under the caps to prevent dirt from getting trapped in there like someone did a few pages back.

Removed my third member today in preparation of my lunchbox locker install. Still not sure if I’ll start working on it tonight, but I wanted to get it out since it’s supposed to rain the next few days.

I put the truck mostly back together so my neighbors don’t have to look at it in pieces.

Is this what they mean by open diff??

Changed my cabin filter and that thing needed it. Was going to install the front recovery point from SOS Concepts but it is way too hot out there!

TL;DR first time since buying my truck last fall that it has seen dirt under the tires.

Took a short, morning trip down a strip that follows the creek behind my parents house while visiting them. Wife gave me a hard time because I wanted to take my truck off the asphalt for the first time. Saw 2 coyotes at the back so I had to get out and look for a den and figured I would snap a pic while I was out.

Out if curiousity I opened up the area and it is both easy to access and looks not too difficult to pre filter.
There's a clip with a Phillips button ,not an actual screw just pull it up then pull up the entire clip. Then pull back the hood gasket, it's just hooked on to the lip, and lift up the cover. 79412D3D-B6FC-46AD-BA28-19C305860810_zps_cd787fdc88e0d88917dabb1f71cc2599d77aaedb.jpg
Underneath is the air box inlet. Could probably zip tie some 1/16 mesh over it.

I haven't done it but I think to completely remove the cover for cleaning you would pull the wipers(1set screw each), then open the hood and pull the clips at either end of the gasket, remove the gasket, then just pull up on the cover to unsnap it.

Not my idea but bought this off a wrecked Taco it was still in great shape so I cleaned it up fish scaled it then used boderite on it to cut down on corrosion. Since I don't have a spare underneath I thought I would make use of the wasted space... The first part of this project I was like WTF am I doing :sawzall:? I have chopped up more than a perfect Toyota or two so oh well hope the bed doesn't crack:popcorn:. Still need to finish mounting it and get the wire harness mounted back.

Stop gap fix while I impatiently await my @Pelfreybilt second gen high clearance dual swing out rear bumper! My 295/75/16 spare barely fits under there with the ears trimmed off.

Nice pic, and nice truck. Like it.
For me, it's the opposite; every 5 or 6 weeks, I'm going to town and a little asphalt (even if it's a crappy asphalt).
    Otherwise, Im off road permanently.

I agree. Don’t care for the wet Okoles in the summer. My buddy has the marathon seat covers and they are very durable.
