I've got a pair of Thule Tracker Square bars on my Leer topper. Any ideas on how I could attach some canoe paddles, one on either side of my canoe, to the bars? My first thought two QuickFists, attached together, one on the rack and one on the paddle, disconnect from the paddle side to use; disconnect from the topper side to store when not in use.

@LEXICON 's setup is what prompted the question, but he's got a Prinsu and I'm not ready for that. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/truck-camping-photo-thread.407866/page-97#post-15733893

You know Thule https://www.thule.com/en-us/us/sport-rack/kayak-roof-rack-accessories/thule-get-a-grip-_-13698 and Yakima https://www.yakima.com/multimount both make paddle carriers right? Rhinorack and probably some others do as well.

For canoe paddles I just toss them in the back although I've used a couple of short straps before. A buddy of mine uses a couple of Ranger bands and loops them over the paddle outboard of the rack mounts. For kayak paddles I take them apart and store them in the kayak with a cockpit cover on the boat. Make sure you tie a security line on any covers in case they come lose.

I didn't. :anonymous: looks like you've made the decision much easier.

They are ridiculously expensive though; you might be able to find some used ones on ebay or something. The ranger band thing is really simple and they hold the paddles secure but it only really works if you've got enough bar sticking out past the mounts. I make my own out of bicycle inner tubes. Obviously they're not going to slow down a thief though.

I've got some bar sticking out each side and that's where I was planning on putting the mounts. Agreed, $80 is a little steep. They look a little over-engineered. I still feel like my original idea of two quickfists isn't bad, but I'm not sure how much cheaper that would be if I've gotta get 8 QFs.
