Yeah, the Honda probably just came up in the search of the Tacoma. I did like the look of the RL from front to rear doors. The price of a AWD was also more than a TRD OR.

I recently bought a Legacy to have something soft, boring, and AWD to drive around. Something the RL would be perfect for, I didn't even consider it as an option.

I was considering a RX350, I didn't want to spend what they go for W/AWD, and thought that Subaru has a superior AWD system, and I really wasn't in the market for a cross over.

If was in the market for a AWD cross over, and compared the RL to a RX350. I would buy the RX350.

Your observation sort of goes right to one of the big issues—reliablilty. But, why is that? And does it matter if you don’t keep the truck for more than, say, five years. The issue that most stuck in my mind about the blogger review was the idea that it handles terribly, lists around and such. My first impression of the TRD OR was that it rode smoothly, even though it bounced a little. Now I wonder if there’s a loose handling that is a big trade off. (I may just be hallucinating about the handling, given the psychology of having just read the negative review.) I do dig the overall look and feel of the truck. And by the way, the tech stuff is just fine. Who really wants to dick around with all that while driving anyway? For me just listen to an occasional CD and the road noise....

I think reliability is a straight forward topic. The model either performs for its intent for a long period or not and has minimal significant repair costs.

Handling is pretty subjective and can be based on road conditions and what kinds of vehicles that the driver is familiar with driving and is comparing the vehicle to. Basically it’s more of an opinion when it comes to topics like handling in my eyes.

I’d be curious as to what you regard as quality handling, and how you would rate the TRD OR. I realize it’s a truck that’s designed to go off road and such, and that all of this is subjective. But I got the impression before buying the truck that it was an okay handling vehicle. Should doubts be creeping in?

The OR is very solid on pavement. The stock tires are very quiet. It handles all sorts of loads safely.

I have owned 2 Lancer Evolutions. They are extremely great at handling, but I think our trucks handle just fine. It’s a truck not a rocket ship. Lol!

that's not really how averages work. if you have a population of 10 people and 9 of them have an IQ of 100 and 1 of them has an IQ of 200, the average IQ is 110, which means 9 people are dumber than average (but not by much) and 1 person is smarter than average (by a lot).

My statement assumes that with large sample size intelligence ( but not necessarily IQ) will have a normal distribution.

If you would prefer, we could say 50% of people are dumber than a median person.

Toyota fanboys are notorious for not being able to handle criticism of their trucks.
