SR5 4X4. The stock tires sucked, but that was an easy fix.

Nope it doesn't. But the sport and the OR are the same truck modified slightly to fit the users needs. OR is great if you're in to ORing and the sport is better equipped for street performance. If you're looking to OR then yes why wouldn't you get the OR, but if you're like me and never take your truck off pavement, then the extras that come on the OR make no sense. It's all about how you are using the truck. The OR is not better than the sport, they're the same trim level, each just has different upgrades than the other for the purpose of the user. Since I never drive my truck OR, all the extra upgrades on the OR would go unused. In contrast I use the festures of the sport every time my truck leaves the driveway.

The OR is clearly the better choice for the OR conciousness (pro would be better yet) but the sport is a very capable 4x4 in it's own right.

Probably depends where you live and what the purchaser is comfortable with too, the smoother ride of the Off Road fits well to my driving environment. These old rural roads with beat up pavement is pretty much uncomfortable in the Sport, too harsh and bouncy in the one I test drove.

Sport suspension doesn't dip while breaking (as much) as the OR, has a sway bar for help with taking corners etc, its just set up better for on road. Go drive a Camaro and tell me it's "too bumpy" that's the cost of performance. But yes, the OR does lessen the road bumps but adds "bounce" after the fact while it regains composure

Ride quality is subjective to each individual, glad Toyota offers choices.

I know it is a bit of a broken record, but the sway bar delete works wonders on the Sport. On and off road.

My bad. I stand corrected. 265/70/17. It was early.

I don't are about crawl control, not much rock climbing over here in VA. The black fender flares to me look cheap. I will only use my truck on the beach some or in the snow if need be. The sport just looks right to me. I'm not plastic dipping, debadging or adding some pro grill. Maybe just a spacer kit and some bfgs and call it the day. I'm sold on my Sport and could have gotten anything from a pro to a new 250 or maybe my 4th Suburban but I wanted a new Tacoma for commuting to work and maybe a trip to the hardware store. I would rather be homeless than chromeless.

You mean you don't want to be a VA Bro Dozer? Haha I completely agree with you. In Virginia, there are some nice off-road trails in the Appalachians but even so they're not overly difficult. (Btw, don't tell anyone but our trucks do amazingly well in sand.)

Well.. We are on the topic of offroading. Both are the same price, one has significantly less offroad ability...

I can drive pretty well, but my truck is more capable than I. Sorry but I'm not tearing up a new truck, also that's when a beater would be great to own for serious wheeling.

I have a 2017 Sport which is all I need as I'm not taking a $40,000 truck out in the sticks to beat the hell out of it. I have a 4 wheeler for mud bogging / hill climbing which is lifted, a locker and has over sized mud tires for that purpose. My next purchase will be a Razor for serious and very capable off roading.
