DRL’s don’t come on

I went to visit my brother along with my nephews and nieces. My youngest nephew (2) likes my Taco. My “small truck” truck he calls it. So as my brother and I were just talking. He was in my truck with my oldest niece. Just messing around. He was switching the lights on and off. As kids do. Anyways on my way home. I noticed my DRL’s weren’t coming on to the “DRL” setting on the headlight stalk. BUT, they come on on parking light setting(setting above DRL). I checked fuse. Obviously works since they do come on. I located the Relay but haven’t been able to check it yet. I didn’t have tools to pull it out and it’s a PITA by hand. Is it likely the relay is the culprit or could the headlight stalk switch possibly burned out?

 

I think DRLs only come on in drive, where you driving when you noticed they weren't turning on?

 

Yeah. They’re actually pretty bright at night. So I noticed right away. And you can be parked and they still come on. At least they used to

 

There is a setting in the radio setting that can control the drls too.

 

Car was never on. And he was messing with rotary switch only. But i’ll Rule it out by checking. Going to pull the relay out and ohm it with my meter

 

I think the handbrake has to be off for them to turn on.

 

On my 2nd generation the drl’s come on when the parking brake is released when truck is started. After releasing brake they come on and brake is reset while running they stay on.

Your truck is still under warranty. Why don't you go to the dealership so they can look at it?

 

Being my first new vehicle off a dealer. I’ve gotten use to fixing my own cars. Also there very suspicious looking amount of wiring that leads to very obviously not stock 8 way switching system right next to OEM fuse box in the engine bay. So first thing they say is that caused the issue. Dealer is a last ditch effort.

 

Do you have an alarm that was added to the keyless entry? Might be related to that. Did you try starting the truck and then release parking brake?

 

BINGO!!! little bugger somehow changed the setting. The iPad generation man
