That is a nice looking tire! My wallet was tight when I bought my current set-up (Falken AT3W Wildpeak, so far so good, but would prob prefer Coopers or BFG personally)

Hello everyone, how's everyone's night/early morning going so far?

Yeah I'm either going with the falken MT01 or Cooper St Maxx next. If I go with the MT01 I'm going to put some of the saved money towards some general grabbers and stud them for the winter

Something a little beefier. Cooper makes excellent tires, but they don’t seem to focus on cosmetics much.

I would love the MT01, but man they are heavy! They were heavier than just about any tire I liked at.

Edit- which grabber are you looking at?

Yeah. But I've heard falken decided not to cheap on on the compound and us highly resistant to chunking and does well in cold / wet areas.

And they're going to be 33's so I'm screwed rotating mass anyways haha

True haha. I’m not quite ready to CMC, so I’m sticking with a smaller tire and still concerned with MPG. Maybe by the time I wear this set out I will quit caring

I don't blame you. I've got 265/75r16 duratracs in C load and they've worked great. None of the negative things you hear about them. And I've taken them through some real wet stuff. Used ATRAC with them once and I laughed because I got out using zero still and all tire and electronics.

But these days my trips are 6 hours north into northern Maine ( MTs get good mpg, right ? ), And after a few close calls in unplanned washed out fire roads and a mountain of 100% shale roads I'm going bigger in E with MT

Is there a huge ride difference b/t C and E tires? I don't think I've ever owned anything buy C.

I currently have 245/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Adventure with Kevlar that are pretty well worn. Just this evening I was out by a local lake exploring some trails and got to spinning like crazy and my tires were packed with mud. I was able to get out, but it sure made me want some MT’s. AT’s would be better for me 90% of the time, but I really to give MT’s a try. I have never ran them before

@gixxerphil they ride way stiffer. And they are heavier. But they're a thicker ply and the sidewall has more protection.

So In the case where the " road " I was on was just 4" rock with sharp shale mixed in with ruts there was a good chance of me sliding sideways and can opening my tires. E load would have been extra protection

E is the next higher load range. They can support more weight, and the material is thicker. More ply’s.

I’ve got the duratracs in load range C on the 17” stock sport rims. They look good and climb damn near anything. But if the road is wet they get slick.

If you're not in it all the time I'd just get some more rugged AT tires and make some traction boards for cases like that. You'd Dodge all the headaches of MTs

X2. I carry a compressor with me. @18psi in low range a just cruise up anything you don't need a designated trail rig for.
