Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
My 2015 knocks but only sometimes and then only during moderate-hard acceleration below 40mph. I run 89 octane gas.
First happened just below 30k miles over a year ago. Dealer couldn't replicate it. To be fair, it likely didn't happen for them. It'll go weeks or months without it then it'll do it for a few minutes then back to normal again. I'm now at 59k. Changed the plugs not long after it happened the first time. (installed Denso plugs from the dealer.) They looked like normal wear.

When mine knocks, there is significant reduction in power as well. I finally had my scangauge showing the right properties the last couple times it happened and saw that during those times the timing was also retarding a lot when I put the engine under load (accelerating hard). When truck is running good (no knocking), timing will generally be in the teens. When it starts knocking, timing drops into the -10-0 range.

Planning to change my plugs again soon. Guess I'll try the intake cleaning before that but with mine being intermittent, not sure that's the issue.

I've been away from TW for a while. The pinging never stopped in my 2015 tacoma and the tsb didn't help. Dealership basically said they couldn't fix it. So, I sold it and bought a Tundra. Awesome truck as long as you hold stock in a petroleum company.

I got 29000 for it and bought the tundra. And can you believe I drove the tundra for only a few months and wasn't satisfied due to the mpg . I wound up buying another 2015 Tacoma Sport dbl cab v6 4x4. ( without the spark knock of course ) Been a crazy few yrs.

Lol, they always come back. Tacoma is just nicer to drive/park in town, better MPG, and just lighter and nicer to drive.

Good call going 2nd gen again.
