Looks like you have no oil pressure.

 

You would be correct. The engine isn't running (the Autometer Tach doesn't zero out until the power is on) and I haven't ran the copper tubing or even installed the fittings on the OGT engine yet. They are still mocked up on the experimental 5VZ. Was planning on doing the plumbing tomorrow.

I ordered some blue LED bulbs for the gauge and the rest of my instrument cluster, so I was going to hold off on the wiring until I get those so I can experience the joy of wiring and pulling my gauge cluster all at the same time!

 

Holy shit, Batman. I got that oil Pressure gauge hooked up today and boy was that not what I expected! I nervously started the truck up for the first time and expected to see some sort of dismally inadequate oil pressure. But as she fired up and the needle started to climb, passed 10 psi, passed 20 psi, passed 30 psi...my eyes started to get big as it passed 40 then 50 then 60 and it finally settled at 68 psi @ about 1500 RPMs. I was stunned. So I took it up to about 4K and watched the needle climb passed 80 psi! Wow.

However, as the truck warmed up, the pressure came down. It's probably going to be between 20 psi and 30 psi at 800-900 RPMs.


The plumbing wasn't my prettiest work ever but I barely ended up with enough tubing to run between the engine and the gauge.

It seemed like the other day the process of you hooking up your gauges went well,and the pulley.

 

I was thinking at birth, but, indeed, hooking up the oil pressure gauge went smoothly and I did luck out with the pulley. But I just can't help myself sometimes. I just have to tear my dash apart from time to time to make sure I remember how to do it, lol. Besides, the mail carrier is bringing the OGT presents.

 

Oh do I smell LEDS

Thanks, Kenny. It's just a pity I can't change the bulb in the tach without sending it back to Autometer, but I guess that'll just help it stand out more for night wheeling.

Thanks, John. You were kinda right though, I should have quit while I was ahead. I managed to crack the instrument bezel in half on the bottom in the process of removing it and putting it back in. Fortunately the scangauge covers it so I don't have to see it, or it would drive me crazy. Probably doomed myself. The OGT seemed happier and healthier than she's been in a long time. Now she'll probably be back to being pissed at me, lol.
