Ok, so I’ve been lurking for a while searching posts looking for the best option for me. As a result I’ve come to some sort of a vision of what I’d like my truck to eventually look like and I need all of your help to validate that I’m on the right path. First of all I have a 2010 MGM Double Cab, Sport, PreRunner. I’ll mostly be driving on the highway with any off-roading done at a very slow pace over very modest terrain. I’d like a enough lift to put some bigger tires on it, but not so much that I start to have wear and tear problems. I’ll just list what I have in mind and feel free to tell me I’m on the right track or suggest a better option.

SHOCKS FRONT – Bilstein 5100’s set to 2.5.
    UCA – Total Chaos
REAR LEAF – Is the TSB enough for the wheels and tires I’m looking to add? (see below) Also, why do I see people talk about TSB (and) AAL, I thought it was one or the other? If AAL I’d go with a 1.5” I think, but really need suggestions here. Again, just looking for enough clearance to get the 285’s in with minimal trimming.
SHOCKS REAR – Do I need the 5100’s in the rear or can I keep the Bilsteins that came with the TRD Sport Edition?

WHEELS – KMC XD ADDICTS (black) 17”x9” w/4.5 backspacing and -12 offset -OR- ProComp 7089 @ 17”x9” –OR- Method Racing 17”x8.5” with 4.75 backspacing and 0 offset.

TIRES – BFG KM2 285/70/17 Are these super loud? Don’t want super loud but love the way these look on a Tacoma! Also, when people talk about trimming does that cause any problems with protection in the wheel well? I’m sure I’ll have to take the front mud flap off but a little scared of how much trimming this set up would induce.

Thank you all in advance for your comments!!!

Seems like a good build. Yes, the TSB with 1.5" AAL will like max your rear out at 3". The tires will fit. You WILL likely have to do some trimming in the front and probably loose the mud flaps. I had a 3" lift in the front with 285/70/17's on ATX 17x9's and had to do A LOT of trimming.

Can you help me understand what the TSB is then? I thought it was a replacement leaf pack that added about an inch to where it sits now. Do you do that and then slip another leaf in the TSB leaf pack?

285 tires won't fit with that set up unless you don't mind trimming a lot! A 3" lift requires trimming & cutting of the cab mounts. So a 2.5" lift would require a bit more.

The TSB's are a replacement leaf pack from the factory. They have an extra leaf in them to begin with.

I don't mind doing a lot of trimming as long as it's not going to ruin something it was supposed to be blocking for in the first place. Cutting the cab mounts sounds a little scary. Can someone talk me off the ledge or show me a picture of what it should look like?
