Yup, I've 215K on my front bearings & they still seem good. No noise or wheel play. Not looking forward to doing them when the time comes though. hopefully not for a while.

I did get the axle bearings replaced a couple months ago but only cause it was leaking on one side, figured I might as well do seals & bearings on both sides.

SPC Light racing's new UCA spindle inserts. Just released last Monday. They have a split in them so as you tighten the upper ball joint the spread out. Makes for a better tighter fit in the spindle.

Broke a thing, then fixed it and broke another thing the next day. :anonymous:

The place I broke my second thing on (and subsequently did not make the obstacle) I watched a built bronco roll on HARD minutes later.

That's exactly how my passenger side CV looked when it busted on me. Broke the inner joint...could still drive it just fine as long as I was in 2wd. In 4x4 it felt and sounded like I was driving over potholes.

That's what I was expecting to happen since I have ADD as well, but when I disengaged 4wd the clunking went away and I could drive around seemingly like normal. Figured it was because the joint connected to the wheel was still intact, I guess

I guess some of the inserts were coming loose in the spindle.

Yeah not exactly sure what other thing I broke. Passenger side is def disconnected now but the CV looks fine, so the current working theory is something in the ADD tube blew. The snap was much quieter than when this CV went.

It took me about an hour to tape off the "TOYOTA" emblem on the tailgate, lol. Having to cut tiny pieces of tape to line the edges of the lettering. I kind of like stuff like that though, like small puzzles and such...so I didn't mind. Had a few beers while I did it in the shade of the driveway, wasn't too bad. But yeah it's almost impossible to get the edges perfect, but luckily Plastidip comes right off so you don't have to worry about it if that happens. Just use the end of a toothpick to clean the edges, or a razorblade if your daring. If I were using actual paint I would definitely take them emblems off to paint them, or just buy blacked out ones and replace with those.

ouch, damn I must have gotten lucky then. I was telling someone about it and they told me that the inner joint rarely fails, it's usually the outer joint and that I may have broken something else. But that was 6 months ago and after replacing the CV it's been fine, so I guess I somehow managed to actually only blow the inner joint.

Happened when I turned into a gas station and forgot to switch 4hi off...the roads were covered in ice up in the mountains but the gas station was covered and had dry concrete. Won't make that mistake again

I hear ya, I've never done wheel bearings before & I really don't feeling like trying either, not on this truck anyway. For the rear I took it to a well known rear end shop. Also just got regeared from them too recently. I just wish they did other work besides rear ends. Hard to find good shops that you fully trust, part of why I started working on my own cars.
