I don't what you are referring to when you say "extended kit." As far as I know, bilstein only makes the 5100, 6112, and 8112 for the fronts if I'm not mistaken. They all are limited to a certain amount of travel because of our IFS. If you mean travel distance then I think you might be talking about the rear shocks?

Granted, my setup is a bit Frankensteined, but you can see that in the picture, that is at full droop. I have a little line to spare, but the lines still look taught.

"extended" in that listing is giving the measurement of the shock while fully extended or fully drooped.

Those numbers are used to calculate the travel of the shock.

Extended length - collapsed length = Travel

With Dakar mediums I was at 2 7/8" when. Installed. I'm sure it settled to 2 1/2" to 3/4"

Only the rear shocks are extended, fronts are all the same only different diameters and valves. The standard 5100s are plenty capable. I had extended resi shocks on the rear of my 04 tacoma and I couldn't tell any difference in ride quality versus the standard shock. Unless you dump tons more $$$ into your rig the extended travel shock won't be very useful. You'll be happy with either the standard 5100 kit or the 6112 kit. Just pick your budget and go

    Just my .02

When a 3" lift kit will give you more clearance than a 6" lift kit...

I was thinking the same. But what about if I want to switch the leafs? What are my options? Since dakar requires the extended or just running OME

@lee1092 the best thing you can do is give Marie at headstrong a call and tell her everything you're thinking , and she can hook you up with all the info and choices you need

6" do it. Lots of people will hate but in the end it's your money and you'll be clearing 35's
