Will my lug nuts work on my new rims?

I have an 05 tacoma prerunner with factory 16" steel rims. I just got a set of 16" OEM rims off a 2015 aluminum. Will the lug nuts I have work on the new rims. They're oem acorn style chrome with the washer

If you have the OEM Stock lugs for the steel wheels they will not work for the aluminum wheels.

The proper lug nuts for the aluminum wheels look like this:

I am not a million percent sure but I do believe that this is proper. My experience is with aftermarket wheels. Maybe OEM takes shanks. I just have seen people attempt to use them interchangeably and that’s not a good idea



If OEM wheels take shanks then I’ll go ahead and excuse myself

 

Where’s the best place to buy lugs like that?

 

I got my set from Discount Tire.

 

Whatever you do, make sure to get a micrometer, calipers, a measuring straw I don’t care, and figure out for sure that the lug nut isn’t going to bottom out. If it does it’ll ruin every stud in which that occurs.

 

I think dorman makes the one piece lugs without the chrome caps that don’t swell up over time and turn a 21mm into a 22.5 mm

 

Best bet is going with high quality lug nuts like McGard or Gorilla. IMHO it's an area that one shouldn't cheap out....

 

These (Or the extended shank) go on aftermarket aluminum. These go on the factory alloys.

 

Yup...... Most of the cheap replacements are just a hair short... Trust me I know

The factory lug for alloy wheels should work just fine with a steel wheel like your spare is on a steel wheel.

These steel wheels take acorn style. My factory OR alum. wheels take mag/shank style.

I believe this style is what you need. I would verify the length. They have another set that is a wee bit shorter.
