So after driving on the freeway still gets stuck at 3000rpm and can’t decide to upshift or downshift. So yay for nothing!! Not sure which update I got but I’m assuming it was the 40-50mph one. My paperwork didn’t say.

Let me know how this goes in Calgary please and which TSBs. I’m also looking to have this done but am guessing nothing will be available for us.

Did you talk to Freeman? That's where I bought my truck. I live in Arlington and may go to Vandergrif unless Freeman is a walk in the park.

My 17' - 6 speed manual has been to two dealers, had seen a field tech specialist, and all I get is "unable to duplicate symptom". I am getting a hesitation under moderate acceleration, usually worse with engine cold, and can also hear a slight vacuum leak under very light acceleration. I have another appointment with a second FTS next week. I've spent apx 10 hours on the road going back and forth to the dealers, even trailered it in so it would be cold upon road test. What next ? Does this TSB apply to the manual trans?

Several people mentioned it being auto only on the first page. Maybe a manual TSB is soon to follow, but we’ll see

    You bet

New vehicles are making 6 speed auto transmission up to 10 now. Honestly at first I found it annoying.
    But I'm loving it now!

Out of curiosity for the MT update...isnt the whole issue that in the AT its shifting at weird times and/or stalling for a moment off the start? How would this affect a MT when you are controlling the shifts?

Nope. There's a problem with the engine tune itself. It's even more apparent with the manuals.

Hesitation at WOT. I have a manual and experience hesitation and dead spots. Especially when cold and I live at sea levevso the high altitude thing is out the window.

the update addresses the stumble condition. from what I understand its caused by extreme misfirng/detonation when switching from direct to port injection at 1500RPM, the problem also affects some manual transmission tacomas, they can just hide it by using the clutch to keep their RPM higher than 1500rpm. frankly im suprised they made the update for autos only.

    Same engine, different tranny.

    Same engine, different tranny.

It’s all based on filed complaints. Per capita, they won’t change anything they don’t need to. The more complaints they get, the more will change

Wait so these are separate? Getting one doesn't apply the other TSB automatically?

Had my done today here in San Diego at lemon grove toyota and i'm pretty happy as of now. It's not hunting for gears as much and better throttle response for sure. it's staying right under 2500RMP for cruising instead of going up another gear and annoying the hell out of me! We'll see if it stays this way.

    Did you get both TSBs?
