No leak. I started troubleshooting poor breaking, thinking pads/shoes were toast. Looked at those, still better than 50% life on all four corners. Next, bled the system and refilled with fresh fluid, and right away knew there was an issue. Almost no pressure, checked for air, and while there was some, I got it out, still had poor breaking. Finally broke down and took it into a shop since this was beyond my sanity threshold.

Shop went through, did the same things I did and came to the same conclusion, bad MC. ~$430 later and she's back!

Thanks! Yeah, I think I'm just used to seeing polished wheels on my truck for so long. My last set were polished too. Time for a change!

So I know this topic may have run it’s course; however, I’m still kind of new here. Are there any Gen 1 folks out here who have had their frame replaced for significant corrosion beyond surface rust, but not the “typical” 10mm hole in the frame? My frame is covered until 12.15.2018. Although I don’t have any holes, I have significant rust on the frame and deformation of cross members, (pitted and thinned). The rear of the frame (near the spare tire area), looks like it hadn’t been treated. Like someone sprayed everywhere else bot that area. The end of the frame near the hitch is flaking away. Just looking for any first hand info. If anyone has experience with this, I’d appreciate your feedback.

Have you taken a ball peen hammer to rusty spots on the frame? That's what Toyota does to test for holes...it sounds like you would probably end up with a few if you were to do that. Or take it into Toyota to have them inspect it, they'll test it with a hammer and if any holes come about from the hammer test then you're golden.

Yeah, I’ve taken it in early last year and it passed, barely. I’ve been hitting the areas with a hammer and only get pieces coming off, no holes. Parts of the frame are pretty solid in some areas, except the cross members and the end of the frame...but no holes.

I have one of these spare if @cynicalrider needs one. I popped it out when I swapped to a solid manual hub axle tube from ADD.

Got lots done tonight. Rerouted air intake, finished off the bob job, put the signals into the markers, got new headlights and markers, painted the grille black, seam sealed the drivers tub job, and a couple other little things I forget. I need to get my hands on an older Toyota washer fluid bottle.

Yup. Gonna search local junkyards during work if I get a chance. I’ve never had good luck with eBay stuff.
