One day... I’ll get the money to regear and add somthing better. The torsen being a gear driven locker just appeals to me for some reason

Low maintenance and feather the brake to hopefully climb out, anyone with ATRAC should be golden here I'd think, not that I really want to try swapping that into my sport. I don't really wheel much, the taco is planned to be my all weather, trail vehicle that I daily to reduce mileage on the F80 ;)

One thing that’s unknown about the Land Cruiser reverse cut gears is how the gears might line-up differently in the clamshell, since these gears never came in a clamshell style case. I’m going to pack up and ship off my parts to be rebuilt this week, so hopefully we’ll have some definitive answers soon.

His picture shows an axle shaft in place, can't say about the CV but I can't imagine it wouldn't, both are 30 spline. If the 53mm vs 50mm threw you that's just the bearing, the hole is smaller

    Interesting.

I really wanted a Torsen or TruTrac in the front when I did my gears. (I have a TruTrac in the rear.) I ended up with an ARB in the front.

I am curious to see if this works out. I really hope so.

Who knows, I may sell the ARB and put in a Torsen...

Same here, a front LS option could be great for those who are looking for a "drop in and forget about it" option.

I kept my setup with an open diff up front since I don't have a need for a locker.

Yeah that's what threw me bc if the bearing hole is smaller, then the OD of the bearing seat flange is also smaller. That's a fact so if that means that said flange ID is also smaller it might be too narrow to fit Tacoma axle shafts...

But if they're really both 30 spline I guess there's a good chance it might still fit

I'm new to TW, not to car forums ;) But I appreciate the props! I started out on older bimmers (E30s) after rebuilding one several times over and having it stolen I got out of modding for a few years until the taco... now my mod bug is back in full swing.
