This was last weekend through Joshua Tree. Day trip ended going through the night and also through crap..literally!

We still had a great time!

Pics are towards the end of the video before my dad jokes.

Looks like a great time, cool that your boys are into to it too. Wish we had places like that here in TN...

Yes it was a fun time. Definitely helped being with other Tacos. If we were alone in that canyon, there could have been some trouble.

I don’t know much about Black Bear, but what I’ve heard is that there’s a few pretty tight switchbacks. How’d the DCLB do through there? Stock, no less. Good job. I’m sure the drive was epic!

You might've set the bar for stock Sport models, long bed at that. How was it?

I understand that, although Black Bear isn't.

You are right about the Bear scaring people; kind of true about most off-road challenges though. Excellent driving, usually earned through experience often (always?) trumps the vehicle. Sounds like you've got both (experience and skill). Put my wife or many of my local off-road buddies in any vehicle on Black Bear and there will be damage.

Kind of weird; most of us seldom drive any of them at their limits; our skills are not close to the vehicles. True of most performance vehicles (bikes, F1, skateboards even).

Red cone pass then shortly after that radical hill. Was another Taco in front of me on radical hill but I was too scared shitless after climbing it in pouring rain and hail that I forgot to ask his name hahah!

Found a little spot near home (Pittsburgh). Photo doesn’t do it justice but the angle was pretty nuts

I think for most people, any fear of danger is compounded by the knowledge that they DON'T have experience and therefore don't know either what can be done, what should not be done, including just plain dumb stuff. Your doing a great thing passing on your experience and installing confidence. I think fears are often compounded by very real financial implications.

Not that bad. But I had two good experienced spotters that got me through it. Several scrapes and a few dents in my side rails. Several multi point turns in the switchbacks.

A few more multipoint turns than the Jeeps and FJ I was with. But it made it OK. I had PMd In4aride to get his opinion before the trip.

I have done Black Bear, Imogene, Alpine Loop and most others in that area in my lifted JKU that I just sold to buy the Taco. Was thinking I would prob do the alpine loop and imogene in my DBSB TRDOR but wasn't sure about the steps on Black Bear and possibility of dragging the rear bumper down them? Now I'm curious. That area is probably my favorite place in the country and I try to make it out every summer for a week or so if I can.
