We have never done the safari but heard it’s pretty good. Report out on how you liked it.

Could always drive over to God’s country and visit Chewacla State Park. Do some hiking, paddle boating/kayaking and visit water fall.

@pat's taco there's also Pine Mountain and Callaway Gardens not far from you. Kids would probably like the floating island play thing they have at the lake there.

 

Good thing there’s Harris County nearby. On 27 South (way you’ll most likely be coming to the Wild Animal Safari) if you stay straight you’ll come in to Pine Mountain. First of all make sure you don’t speed because they will probably pull you over anyway even with a out of state tag. There’s Callaway Gardens on your right after the 3rd traffic light. Lots of good activities in there. They have floating islands for the kids on the lake to play on. Mini golf (Not the best course but it’s free with admission). They have a beach around the lake and there is a good bit to go see inside the gardens. If you go on past the Gardens on 27 S there’s a overlook to see Pine Mountain Valley on the left. At that overlook there’s a road heading up the mountain that leads to the state park with some higher overlooks. Best food in Pine Mountain is Whistling Pig cafe, San Marco’s Mexican and 3 Little Pigs BBQ. Chipley Chicken is there too and has some really good food. All of them except Sam Marco’s are on the right.

Over in Warm Springs there’s FDR’s little White House where he stayed when he visited the area. They have some shops in Warm Sorings to wander around in too.

A little further away from you in Columbus they have the Coca-Cola Space Science Center, Civil War Museaum and right outside Ft. Benning the National Inframtry Museum which is really nice and my son enjoyed it. He also liked the civil war museum seeing the boats they have in there. Top of those would be the Infrantry Museum that also has a theater in it showing various shows and movies.

 

Forgot about Callaway Gardens! Floating island is great for adults too! IJS!

So I'm thinking I want an electric chainsaw because I don't think I'm capable of maintaining a gas powered one. I don't think I'd use a battery powered one enough to keep the batteries charged either. I think I could make myself maintain a generator because it'll have the extra use of power outage backup at home. Either option would have other uses like powering a good air compressor and maybe some light power tools, hair dryer for wife, griddle, etc...

Question is: install a new inverter in the truck, or buy a inverter generator?

Big enough inverter would call for a dual battery setup in my opinion or possibly an oversized alternator. A generator would be a whole lot more versatile, only downside is you have to dedicate bed space for it.

saw that yesterday kinda wondered why he didn't just go SC with a 2.85 pulley or something cuz it would have put down the same horsepower and had twice the torque but to each their own, super cool anyway

nah it's stock. if it does in fact become mine one day I would probably be very open to that kind of project. it'll be an old well maintained truck by the point it becomes mine though.

 

I assumed it was currently stockish at least, and implied that you would be turboing it once the stars aligned

 

if the truck is still alive when it becomes mine then yes I just might.

my uncle is 62 and it has like 30k miles on it. he got it brand new pre-2010. I can't remember the year of it.

I got this little bad boy and it works great. I am constantly surprised by its power and I can use the battery on my other B&D yard tools.

And definitely get a generator. It will be way more useful than the truck inverter.

 

Made some bumpstop brackets and installed the CB, getting close to being done.

Yeah I really like the one I have in my Tacoma so I bought the same one for the samurai
