The 4Runner worked out for me that way with almost nothing down because it held its value.

I just never felt like it was mine.

That crosstrek doesnt exist in the inventory.

They are already knocking about 3500 off the price right now. I'm sure I could dig another 500 to 1000 off if I paid cash.

Definitely take tips from rob. It sounds like he’s the king of buying cars based on other convos we’ve had.

Do you have consumer reports? They have a build and buy program. I used it once. Saved me 17% on a Honda.

True Car is another great resource.

It sounds like you're getting the best possible deal though.

    I like the color.

Nah I don't have membership to either. I just don't want to hassle with those because I know they and the dealerships will call me incessantly.

So so sad... I don't know how people pick up and move on after a tragic loss like that.

When I read where he went missing and the time frame it sounded pretty grim, it has been downright deadly hot here! Can't imagine how hot it is getting in the desert southwest! I get heat exhaustion just from having to wear kevlar all day, getting in and out of an air conditioned car...

My thoughts and prayers go out to her and their kid(s)!

Maybe TW could put together a GoFundMe or something for her? Rob any ideas? You seem to be more involved than anyone else...

When I did the build and buy with CR, it cost $14 bucks. They line up the dealers in your area. The dealers agree to the lower prices ahead of time. I was at work, filled out the info. Left, picked up my wife. Before we got out of the city I had two dealers each offering me better deals than the other one. I ultimately saved 17%. The whole thing was wild.

There is another option. You might dig this. I used this when I bought my Tundra and it worked.

I think a go fund me is a great idea but the mods absolutely hate them for some reason. It’s so stupid.

    No boost or manual trans?

I have been cruising our local classifieds for a manual trans boosted subie under 5k...either an Imprezza/STI, Legacy GT, or Imprezza/STI wagon. I want mostly stock so I can mod it to my liking and know it wasn't beat before I got it. But haven't had any luck finding one worthwhile in my price range.

Been watching a lot of samcrac on YouTube so might even consider a salvage build project. Just for a fun to drive DD.

I get it if someone were begging for mod money...but this woman just lost her husband tragically for crying out loud. No better reason for people to be generous IMO!

Agreed!! A few months ago a localish member lost his house in a fire. We wanted to start one and asked the mods and they said no. In the code of conduct, an example of an ok go fund me was literally a house fire. Like we’ve talked about before, they’re all over the place.

    Daniel,
I believe the last guy to post on the thread is the representative or spokesperson for the family.

I'm hoping there is a follow up post with what we can all do, such as a funding page or at least some sort of memorial thread.

Maybe we can get some of our patch creating members or vinyl creating members to offer patches or decals with some of the proceeds going towards helping out. I'm all in for any benefit effort. I think a memorial patch or decal would be perfect.

I'm just still shaking my head at the whole thing.

I will definitely pass along any info here and on my other main threads.

I have family in law enforcement and they know I worry every day about them, and you and all your brothers and sisters. I'm so glad there are brave souls like ya'll out there.

I has paddle shifters for "manual" action. Considering recent medical events, it may be a good idea to buy AT.

The paddles are pretty fun. If you beef up the rear sway bar and throw some sticky tires on it (that's what I did) then they're a hoot to drive.
