Damn... That's a pretty good deal. Wish I didn't just spend a few hundred over the last few days on the taco!

Anyone have any recommendations on what oil i should run in my 95 tacoma? I've been running Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic for about 2 years, but id like to run something different due to some possible detergent buildup in motor.. I've heard that valvoline keeps a motor really clean, and I've also heard good things about mobile 1, any takers on what I should run with my motor? Its a v6 with 246,000 miles

Welcome to TW! uhhhhhh i've been running royal purple for about 1000 miles and I know I've been getting better mpgs. Try doin a little search on motor oil within the forum and I'm sure you'd be able to find more info.

I run Mobil 1. I like it. I don't have nearly as many miles as you though, I'm only at 13,000.

Yea, I've been recommended to use the high mileage M1 stuff and the Valvoline full synthetic hm, but the Valvoline is almost impossible to find. I'm pretty sure that I want to run M1, I've ran RP in it before, but I didn't really notice much of a difference for spending that much more a quart.

OK guys, anybody know anything about installing Billies?? Mine have been in my backseat for the last 2 months (give or take a week) and I'm so ready to get them on!! Got laid off so paying a shop isn't really feasible. But I can always buy some beer for some assistance!

Yes, Bilstein shocks. Fronts/rears. My cousin offered to help me with the rears, said they aren't too bad. It's the fronts that scare me.

well the rear is def easier from what i remember, the front you're gonna need a set of spring compressors that you can rent from advance for $50 or so. You can keep em as long as you need, keep em if you want, but you'll need that to compress the spring to get the old strut out and put the new one in. It would be a good idea to get a Chilton's or Hayne's manual, it'l have some helpful instructions on how to do it, or even look up some other's installs online. Also, is your truck lifted?

No, not lifted. I was actually hoping to find somebody that has experience and would be able to do it with my newbie assistance in exchange for some beer or something similar to compensate for their time. Any interest? BTW, what part of La are you from??

Ah, if it's not lifted, then you should have a pretty easy time. Its a little bit of a bear to get the spring compressed, but its mainly time consuming. Hey, I never did anything with my shocks and struts but figured em out on my own.. I had some minor technical difficulties due to the previous owner cutting off the stock bottom strut mounts and weld lifted ones on..:( I considered replacing the lower control arms, but that would include buying a new bushing kit, and then adding a lift kit on the front which equaled too much$$$ for what it was worth. Im in shreveport right now, but I'll be down in Houma in a few months.

I'm in Hammond. Maybe I'll have some luck finding somebody a little more mechanically inclined than I am. I have a knack for screwing things up. You lost me at bushing kit... sorry! Thanks for the help though!
