Lift left me with 3" of rake

I have roughly 3" of rake after installing the lift. Measurement from ground to center of fender: Front 37" Rear 40". There is no added weight except for a hitch

    Front suspension:
OME 881 coils with trim packer on drivers side and OME nitro-charger shocks
    SPC Upper control arms

    Rear suspension:
    Dakar leafs and nitro-charger shocks

    Tire size: 265/75/R16
    Tires rub on fender well

As for the alignment I asked the guy to hit the following numbers (based on what I had read rode well for other members): Caster 3.00 Camber 0.00 Toe 0.00

The alignment tech let me know that the caster and camber adjustments were all the way out and he felt because of the amount of rake the he could not get the alignment as good as he'd liked. I noticed he had not touched the adjustments in the upper control arms and asked they re-do the alignment. He said they'd take a look but couldn't promise anything. They were not happy about this and took 3 days to get the truck done. Seems to me they only touched the camber adjustment on the UCA's

    First alignment: Camber: L -0.6 R -0.7 Caster: L 2.4 R 2.7 Toe +1/16"
    Second alignment: Camber: L -0.1 R -0.2 Caster: L 3.4 R 3.7 Toe +1/16"

What I'd like to do is reduce the amount of rake and eliminate the tire rub. I've looked into a top plate spacer but am unsure as to the affects on ride quality. Has anyone experienced similar issues after installing new suspension? Seemed to me the wheels should not be rubbing after the 881's were installed

Does the leaf pack settle all that much? Is it feasible to add weight to the bed to break them in?

Thanks in advance. Photo as the truck sits currently:

They will settle some. You can speed up the process by adding some weight or hitting a few sweet jumps. I usually put one of my atvs in the back for a few days, out should bring it down an inch or 2. If you are looking for level get to spacers or 883s. I'm running the same setup with 883s, front and rear are within 1/4 inch of other

I'd lift the front a little. The rear will settle with time, but not that much!

This is what happened to me with 881s...which is why I don't recommend them to anyone here unless they only want about 1" of lift. If you want 2 - 3" up front you should go 882s or maybe 883s (with a steel bumper)

The Dakars will settle some but not much. Mine settled maybe 1/2 an inch after a couple months.

I have the same size tires as you too and mine rub as well...I have Kings up front now though. The backspacing of your wheels is likely why they rub, you just need to trim the plastic behind them back some and fold back the pinch weld a little.

, I was thinking 881’s would be good for me, but I’m at 37/3/4” front with 265’s and 5100’s. It looks like 882’s will be what I have to go with to keep from losing lift. If I was you I would add a 1/2” top plate spacer above the coil perch.

Did you measure before the lift and after the F/R heights? This will be a good idea to see what happened where. I measure from the axle center to the fender, on level ground.

Rears will settle a bit as stated but not much. You may need to raise the fronts by the look of things.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
What's your hub to fender measurements up front? I'm at 3" with 881s and the 10mm spacers, and on bigger wheels and tires. Gotta be the backspacing on your wheels. As for the rake, put some weight back there or if there's an overload you can pull.

Do you want to get rid of some rake by lifting the front or lowering the rear? You can also remove the third leaf from the top of you Dakar’s to lower the rear about .75”

Were the pivoting points of the suspension torqued with the suspension in compression?

I've seen 'high' vehicles were the suspension bushings were bound up from being torqued in full droop.

Yes or take out the longer of the overload leaves then you don't change the spring rate. Or both

Ohhhh this! Good thinking. My Dakar’s lifted 3.0 exactly then settled .5”. No need to take out leafs.

Just be sure your front lift actually lifted and/or the suspension was tightened on the ground.

Hmm. Missed this useful bit in all the suspension writeups I used. Thanks!

I have no clue if you missed it or not, since I've never read any for Tacomas. My poor man's 5 lug suspension is stock. :)

Just a leftover in the 'ole brain from messing with SCCA suspensions. Bushings are bushings, and the technique should be the same. You don't want them bound up.

I missed it or it wasn't mentioned. Either way I'll get everything torqued correctly with tires on the ground sometime this week

how much lift did you expect in the front? the dakars do expect a lot of weight in them and same thing happened on my 2nd gen. You will get 2.75-3 with the dakar leaf back in the rear.

I am curious how much this affects and how often. I was always curious and can't recall if we torqued down in droop or on the ground. I have a good amount of rake but also have the extra leaf installed.

I didn't take any measurements pre lift but currently the hub to fender distances are as follows: Front 22.5" Rear 25.5"

For starters I will loosen the suspension bolts and jog the suspension before re-torquing.

    Future plans:
    1. Add weight to the bed to assist the settling in of the leaf springs
    2. Half inch top plate spacer and new alignment (going to a new shop this time)

All that being said I'd be happy to be at or less than an 1.5" of rake. If not I will reevaluate removing a leaf. Appreciate all the help! I'll update you all on the measurements.

Any thoughts on the numbers that came back from the alignment shop?UCA's caster is set on "C" +1 degree. Just curious to know if others got similar numbers and like how it rides

I'm at 24" on the front with mine so that seems off immediately. Hmmmm
