In the first thirty seconds or so I run my AC system (not on recirc) it smells like vinegar in the cabin. Any ideas on how to get rid of that, for free.

Grass, gas or azz , nobody rides for free.

Buy a can of lysol and spray into the ac intake while running.

Mine does this also... and I live in a dry environment. The Lysol method works. But you have to reapply quite often.

What's crazy is my friends brand new 2015 AC also smelled like ass straight off the showroom floor... guess it's a taco thing, they just smell. :3

No, I did not dump a bottle of vinegar into my air conditioning vents.

I'm gonna try that tomorrow, for now I used a can of Glade air spray so it smells like a toilet now. I have a bunch of Lysol "clean linen" spray at work though.

Careful how much you spray. I did this awhile back, truck smelled like lysol for a solid 3 weeks.

My wife and I have also been receiving a bitter smell through our air vents. We thought it was because of the skunk in our area but it didnt smell anything like it. We live in a desert and the smell goes away after about 5 minutes of driving.

I sprayed a ton in there, it didn't make a difference. I prefer lysol to moldy ass, haha.

Spray your cabin air filter with your favorite air freshener or essential oil. Grab an odor absorber (like charcoal) and place under your seat.

I have lava rocks under my seat, helps keep odors down
cabin filter replaced and still smells once in a while so it might be some gunk in the expansion coils that gets washed off from the condensation
