You'll want two guys installing your front suspension. Especially if its a lift. You'll have to basically push down on the lower control arms to fit them in there. Way easier with 4 hands unless you have access to a shop lift.

Thank ya sir. Got some fox rears at home. Waiting to pull the trigger on some rear HD Dakars for the rear. With the RTT and camping gear, I need it.

Trust me, its an internal dilemma on the daily. But a CMC, etc and loss of MPGs for a relatively pointless mod for me is hard to justify. I'd rather just have a good set of decent size tires and get on with it. But the other part of me says otherwise.

Edit: Maybe a set of relative pizzacutters for a decent tradeoff of size and weight.

Thankfully, I have a few favors I could call in for spare hands. Just gotta find a time to do it.

I don’t believe you would need to do a CMC for 33’s. The dealership puts 285/70’s on the trucks they lift, so they don’t have to chop. Granted, those that buy a lifted truck from a dealership probably don’t wheel them very hard. I’m reasonably sure that it's not required for a 255/85 either.

There certainly will be a loss of MPG’s. But damn! It will look good.

255s are what would go on if I did go to 33s. But tires are a decent ways off, so I have time to make up my mind.

Apologies upfront if this is not the right thread to pose this question. I intend to spend a week the end of August in Moab touring the national parks. I am debating whether to drive my car or my truck from OK, so maybe 1,100 miles each way. The car is way more comfortable and economical to drive on the interstates. Is the car going to severely limit my ability to see the parks? I'm not interested in offroading just for the challenge (rock climbing, etc.). I just want to enjoy the scenery.

    What kind of car?

Generally speaking though, if you have a windshield tour planned, a car will do just fine.

Thanks, good to know. It's a Lexus sedan so even gravel roads are not fun.

The lifts on these trucks are pretty easy. The rear is the easiest part, just do one side at a time. Put the truck on jack stands and use the floor jack to move around the axle.
The hardest parts is the upper control arms. Moving the stuff out of the way and getting the bolts out once the sheet metal is bent.

You will be just fine in the sedan but you’ll look way more badass in the truck.

We were up in the Tushars a few weekends ago. Theres an short trail to a 12K foot peak. You can drive to within 1 mile of the summit.

Holler when you get to Zion. Lots to see and do around here!

As stated before, your car will be fine. Holler if you get to Zion and want to see some BLM roads!

And for everyones enjoyment, this little ditty from 2005...

Well, a friend and I just went up into the alpine loop this weekend. Easy overnight. Damn near got electrocuted when that big storm swept through Saturday night. Lightning bolts sizzling overhead on an exposed outcropping, bunch of metal bed racks, etc. Had to hunker down in the trucks for about an hour to feel safe. To the 2 hiking groups that were on the spine of Timp when that came overhead, that must have been a pretty spicy time. We were going to go to Fish Lake, but that area looks like it got swamped this weekend, so I am glad we stayed local. Perhaps it was a good thing you didn't come with your kids @H3llRid3r, but sorry we missed you.

On an unrelated note, anyone know someone with good sewing machine skills in the Sandy area? I have a project idea.

Glad you didn't get zapped. I had my fam up at Tibble Fork on Saturday along with about 1/2 of Utah.

I know a lady in Sandy that does alterations on clothes and is pretty great at it, a lot of stores send stuff for her to do it. Not sure if your project is up her alley but I can dig up her # if you wanna try.

We were expecting a crowd where we were going, but didn't see a single person after the first 100 yards. I stay as far away from Tibble and Silver Fork as I can. It's mayhem up there.

If you could pm me her info, I'd be grateful. It's literally sewing a few pieces of fabric together, just truck related. Should be pretty easy money.

Man, that sux about the weather. Regardless, it sounds like it was still a good time.

Despite the weather, I would still rather be out on the trail.

Is your suspension still on point for this weekend?

Going to see Alex at TNA on Saturday.
Putting in my diff breather extension Sunday as well.

And just when I thought I was done...a wild idea popped into my head last week.

Utah's open carry gun laws anyone?

Stuff and things that make it better.
Yep, Utah allows unlicensed open carry of a firearm that is at least 2 actions from firing. For example, a semi-auto may have a full mag but the chamber must be empty. Permit holder may open carry as well, but their firearms may be fully loaded.
