Wondering if anyone else has issues with the bumper cap where the front license plate attachment is also located.

My truck (2017 Tacoma double cab off-road) is a little over year old. The bumper cap (valance) was coming off so I reported it to the dealership and they replaced it under the bumper to bumper warranty, however when they gave me the truck back the new bumper cap was worse than before (it’s now more loose). The dealership is blaming the front bumper area where the bumper cap snaps in.

The dealership is now filing a claim with Toyota Corporate for a manufacturing defect. Their stance is Toyota built the truck they should pay for the new bumper or find a solution.

Has anyone else had problems with a loose bumper cap. Has anyone else had experience with claims being filed with Toyota corporate and how they respond.

Have the same issue, just waiting when I replace bumper to aluminum offroad version, plastic is not for me.

    Realsystem,

Did the dealership replace it for you or you doing it on your own? If you’re doing it on your own what’s the cost and does the aluminum bumper caps snap in differently

I just want to replace the whole bumper, not only cap. Dealer is not going to put aftermarket stuff. So, I will do it in some shop.

Mine is also loose. 2018 here, id figure I would address it at the first service appointment. I wouldn't want it any looser. That sucks. Anxious to see how it turns out.

Mine is slightly loose. Not a big deal, but if I ever get annoyed enough, I will pull it, figure out how to tighten it up (might need to glue on some shims for the clips?), and be happy.

I have seen loose valances on several off roads but never seen a loose one on a pro .. wonder if they use different clips or parts to make it secure or just a coincidence. the sports have color match same material as bumper I believe.

Also how do you tighten the shroud around the steering wheel column? Loose as well.

Let’s be honest guys. The front and back bumpers on the 3rd Gen Tacoma’s are beyond being absolute pieces of shit. They are the very definition of cheap crap. The truck has an anus in both front and back in the form of a totally fake, weak-assed, delicate decoration disguised as a bumper.

Single lamest thing about the truck in my opinion. All looks and no love as they say.

Can’t wait to turf both of mine into the trash.

Dang, not acceptable. That looks worse than mine. Was your first one that bad? I don't want them to swap mine and make it worse.

Ouch. The last top clip on my passenger side is like that after someone backed into me (and after replacement) but not nearly as bad as that.
