It’s funny though because it’s “entire police force” when in reality it’s only 4 cops. 3 officers and an acting police chief. They were in the middle of a vote on merging woth Chester police because blandford police don’t have aduaqate equipment or vehicles to the point where some were using their own vehicles.

I heard they have faulty euipment. Old cruisers that wouldn't pass state inspection they were so bad. Out dated protective vests. Can't say that I blame them.

 

We cross paths occasionally. I'll try to wave next time I see you. Last time I spotted you on the pike west bound, I was going east. I think that was a few months ago

Ya I feel like there is more to it. I’m sure it also has a lot to do with the merger as well. Those officers were supposedly only getting paid around $15/hr. In all honesty, for a town the size of blandford they may not even need an actual police force. The state police russel barracks is just at the bottom of the mountain as well as Otis can respond if necessary. I’d say keep a resident trooper in the town at most. It would probably help keep their property taxes low too

 

The article mentions that the s.p. respond to calls 90% of the time.

 

Ya exactly. I think they’d be better off without a police drop in general. The town already has very low property taxes and upgrading their police force would only raise taxes. Could be like westfield and get new cruisers every couple of years and a Harley’s to ride 4 months out he year haha. (Not sure if they still have the Harley’s though that was like 9 years ago when they bought them)
