Update: The widest t-slot cover that 80/20 sells is a 45 and measures less than a 1/2".
I appreciate both your reply as well as the resource you supplied. It's out there somewhere but I'll have to keep looking.
Have a great day Bud and thanks again.:thumbsup:

Has anyone tried building their own softtopper before? I already have a nice RTT carrier/bed rack and I think it would be cool to build a wrap for it so I can potentially take the factory tonneau cover off sometime, or to use it as a shelf [even though toyota forbids that!]

Thoughts? Fabric is cheap and I have access to a heavy duty sewing machine.

I just bought a 2018 Limited. Can't wait to accessorize it. Previously had a 1998 with a manual tranny and 250k miles on it. I love this forum and must say that the love that you guys have for these trucks helped make my mind up when it came time to make a purchase. I'm learning about some standard upgrades I need to make now. Thanks.

I will keep you posted. I think I will likely build it to wrap around the sides and cab part, then 'zip' into a hinge at the back. That way I can open the back part or remove it entirely. I don't necessarily need it to be entirely water/intrusion proof, I just want it reasonably covered up.

I've been watching that sewing thread for a while, the OP's soft topper turned out great. I'd like to pick up a heavy duty sewing machine for projects like that some day. Welder and tube bender are on top of my wish list right now.

    I got stuff on order...
    An update on this mod.

I had read, and quickly learned, that these H11 LED bulbs work great in the fog light housings but not so much in the headlight housing. I drove the truck a short distance that same night and immediately realized that the LED low beams, while technically brighter than the factory bulbs, just don't appear to be compatible with the projector housing. The light was so diffused that I really couldn't see much more than a few feet in front of me. I put the factory bulbs back in the low beam housings the next day. I'm stil undecided about the high beams because I haven't really had a chance to test them at night with the factory low beam bulbs back in.

So, yes, this is an easy and inexpensive upgrade for your factory fog lights, but I wouldn't bother with the headlights.

On a positive note, the LED bulbs didn't go to waste. I put them in my girl's 4Runner fogs. Took three times as long as it did with the Tacoma because of that ridiculous plastic valance and all those reusable plastic rivets. Also, the passenger side lamp is only accessible from under the car. Geez.

Honestly just 'cause an Ebay grill was 80 bucks.

You can see the remains of its brethren on the ground next to it. There are so many damn screws holding the old grill on, and I can't take the whole trim off without taking my bumper off, so I just kind of tore it apart.
