Why do you guys want to update your trucks without 1.05 being available yet? I was flashed by the dealership and now can’t run 1.04 any more which means that I’m stuck with the “updated” but still shit stock tune. It’s a definite downgrade on performance if you do this update from the dealership. I understand getting the update if you are still sitting on the fence about buying the tune, but if you have already purchased and are running the tune, the sudden necessity to do this update doesn’t make any sense. Just saying!

Because people like the idea of an “update” even if doesnt do crap! I’ll stick with my 1.04 until 1.05 releases then 1.zeroTURBO once that releases :p

People want to try new things. According to those who didn't have the tune, the update improved the drive.

I'm still interested to hear how their experience is 1000 miles later in terms of shifting. Hard for me to believe they erradicated the learning. Suspect the transmission would still "learn" which was a big driver of the tune for me anyway. Killed me how the truck would drive great after a reset/flash then after a few days of driving in stop and go traffic it would "learn" to drive very conservatively and wouldn't unlearn those behaviors of racing to 6th at low speeds! drove me bonkers and I haven't felt that bonkers since I've been tuned so that alone has been money very well spent!

Good point. I've been on this tune so long, I've forgotten how crappy the drive used to be. I keep telling myself to reflash back to stock to remind myself how good I've got it now.

But why would I put myself through that!:confused:

Toyotas TSB changes shift tables, some throttle tables. But does not change the main thing that makes the trans lose its mind over time. The torque models for the transmission.

So it will revert back to bipolar mode?
Granted it’ll be an updated bipolar mode but still....

I’m sure that’s the case for them because they are actually seeing an improvement, but I guarantee you that the ones that have the tune installed will be quite disappointed. Trust me cause I’m one of those dissapointed ones. I can’t wait for 1.05 to drop so I can get my truck back to driving like it was prior to Toyota’s update.

I honestly hope that the latest TSBs make stock Taco owners happy. There's a good possibility that the euphoria of a freshly flashed truck will wear off though, and the truck will re-learn some "bad" habits. I'm trying to look at this through the lens of somebody who has never experienced OVtune BTW - I'd never put the OEM garbage back in my truck lol.

Yes. Works great for me when coding TPMS registrations at rotation time.

Yup Stock Tune gets worse with time, however OV Tune ages like a fine wine... I swear this gets smoother everyday.

Which is why I hate that my ECU keeps resetting itself. The curve starts over again. Still great, but it does get better 1000-2000 miles in!

I'm still waiting on my laptop. It shipped July 16th from Amazon (well, Technology Galaxy via Amazon). 2 weeks later, after carrier "delays", they finally cancelled the order and refunded me. Frustrating! Anyway, I'm patient...I ordered another one from a different company. Should be here Friday.

So, any tidbits regarding 1.05 worth sharing at this point?

I'm most interested in the changes to Torque calculation and how that will benefit throttle control on the M/T.

    Totally agree, but man....

There's this one hill on my commute. I don't know what it is about it, but it did this stock and with OVtune.

It's the only goddamn hill that this still happens on. There's a stop light at the bottom it's a gradual incline, and by the top I usually hit about 50mph in 4th. Then I Get up to about 55 and for the next half mile which is flat or declining, it will not shift out of 4th. I have to fully release the gas and decelerate about 5mph before it shifts into 5th. Or manually shift it. Ive tried modulating the gas pedal (sometimes aggressively) and it will not shift out of 4th. Even if I get lucky and approach the hill at speed this still occurs after I crest it. :annoyed:

I hope the f***** rev hang goes away with 1.05.
