    How is the pricing?

We looked at one similar to that, but decided it was less than 5k more for new, same trim and options. Better financing options on new.

Well we hardly get snow here and when we do it's not much. So we are comfortable driving in it. We thought the same thing, it's been nice having a truck and an suv but we don't really need the truck bed. It's just nice to have I guess.

We have an RTT so no sleeping in it. We'd likely build a bed rack for the Tundra or a roof rack for the 4runner to camp with. But the 3rd gen will be our main camping rig.

Pricing is good-- new with the same trim/options would be nearly $40k, this is about $15k less than that.

    That makes a big difference.

I think it was a 14 Trail Premium CPO with ~45k. Asking $32,x and wouldn't budge. Got a new Off Road Premium for $36,5+TRL. No sunroof or KDSS on either. Easy call there.

If you're good with the look and the options, I wouldn't balk at a Toyota 4.0 with 100, let alone 60 on it.

Right...my only worry is that inside 2 years it'll suddenly be a ~120k mile vehicle and continue flying upward from there.

Maybe I just bite the bullet and go for it. New is simply out of my price range.

Well a new one is only gonna be a couple years behind that pace.

It's rough having to pay the piper to enjoy driving so much.

That was part of the motivation on getting the T4R to save some miles on my truck (and 37" tire wear), but so much for that so far.

It's a tough decision as both are great and the Tundra feels a lot bigger driving it around. Definitely a test drive would be beneficial, once I drove a Tundra I knew I wanted one.

I think the width is roughly the same, but the height is what I notice. The 4th gens feel so cramped for head room (I'm 6'1") and thats with both trucks not having a sunroof. Plus I'm not a fan of the angle of the windshield of the 4runner, seems too low.

@swalters one thing you'll notice over your 3rd gen is how solid the Tundra is. The doors are heavy and shut with a nice thud, but it's a good thud. The 3rd gen felt so cheap after making the switch and I loved my 4runner.

Thanks for the help guys!! I will definitely test drive both. Ideally I'd love to have both and get rid of the 3rd gen but the 3rd is such a trail capable rig

At about a half mile from work this morning, my car started turning itself off mid-drive. It would instantly start itself back up but continued to do so. No gauges, no radio, no powersteering, essentially the whole electrical system would just go black for a half second to a couple seconds at a time. When starting my car, it starts like normal. I was a little late so I wasn't able to take a look under the hood or anything. Just thinking a loose ground? Or one of the big three wires making contact with something it shouldn't?

Edit: not running any codes or misfires

Did some reading up at work, didn't really see anything like this...

I don't think it's a battery or alternator problem. Kind of wondering if I frayed a wire or something and it's making contact with something else metal and it's causing it to short. I've got to run some errands for work at 1 so I'll just pull into the Kroger across the street and take a look.

When I got to work, I coasted into the parking lot with no power and parked. Started the car a few times and it fired up no problem which has me not sure if it's a ground.

Let the bitch burn. No fire extinguisher. Insurance ain't but a thing.

I've got some electrical tape and wire loom in the back though, so if it is something frayed, I'll tape it off now and get it home. Then just park the bitch till I have time to re run it.

A frayed wire hitting the block or a pulley or something is the only obscure thing I can think of with it starting no problems.

Any other suggestions on what to look for in my quick peak besides terminals and grounds?

Happened in my 2000, I ended up removing and cleaning/tightening up the terminal cables, cleaned the MAF, throttle body and IAC. Something fixed my issue but no clue what the actual culprit was. Maybe try all of those.

I wonder how they would do with weight. I loved my Superflex coils until I added more weight to the back.

I did plugs, wires, and new plenum gaskets with all the associated cleaning last month and I was running a lean code (p0171) shortly after but that cleared itself. I've done a thousand miles or so since then so I don't think it'll have anything to to with the MAF or throttle body but I'll give it a try. The throttle body is the only thing I didn't touch as I forgot so I think I'll stop by the dealership on the way home and pick up a new gasket.

The coil bind at the top annoyed the shit out of me. It was so loud.

Yeah, and the Donks loved stock TJ coils so they could clear their 24s.

Walked out to my car to run an errand and got nothing. No click no nada. As if the battery was disconnected. Disconnected the battery, put it back on, started but nothing great. Did the same thing again and I can drive but it seems to die randomly. Whether I be sitting or moving. The negative terminal had a little bit of corrosion but nothing that I’d consider worry some. Have it a light cleaning and still having the same on/off fight.

Think it’s just a little corrosion in the wrong place causing this?

Battery’s 2 years old. Optima yellow top. I’ll get that tested after work but again, don’t think it’s the battery. Was watching my volts and they were in the 13.8-14.2 range which is spot on.

It’s weird that cleaning the terminals helped considering how little corrosion there was. Might just be happy for the time being cause it got a reset with disconnected battery.

Since it’s restarting itself or letting me restart, I’ll be checking all the connections to everything tonight
