@TacoAlaMode my presence may be slim on the 11th to help you out. Just found out I am traveling Sunday the 12th through the 15th, and will be having to handle pre-travel necessities that Saturday.

 

I did. Figured I'd give it a shot since exhaust pieces are fairly cheap and I need all the welding practice I can get. If I were to do it again, I'd probably just take it to an exhaust shop where they can bend one solid piece and be done with it.

Potentially. But as far as time is concerned, it took me about 4 hours which is far from how long it would take proffessionally. But I guess my hours are a bit more flexible than Worth's. Lol. I ended up buying a 180 degree mandrel bend, a Y pipe and two 24 inch straight sections. That pretty much took care of it.

 

PM me if you want what the cost would come out to.

I also have a skid already if you'd just like a rough reference for something, you can't copy it though!!

Gotta wonder what these companies were thinking when they decide on a name like that.

 

A few years ago Bob Jones High School had student shirts available saying "I Heart BJ". Pretty popular until a dad of a teen girl caught wind of it, or so I heard.

It might be a HSV urban legend tho...

 

I think I remember those shirts. I went to Sparkman High when I was growing up so we always made fun of Bob Jones for their unfortunate name. Had some chants at football games against them that I can't quite remember. Haha.

 

Anyone have suggestions on dealing with a micromanager/indispensable man personality as a boss?

He is in with a clique here openly referred to as the Indiana Mafia. They are a bunch of union bosses kids that got moved down here as management after the plant closed there. He is engineering manager and has no degree at all. His experience is 20 years in field service (glorified mechanic).

Dude is bad. Never shares information. Major changes happen in projects that everyone is working on and he doesn't say anything until he can get an audience with big wigs; leaving everyone else looking clueless. Never includes me (Sr. Lead Engineer) or anyone else in meetings or emails about projects.

When he forwards me technical information he cuts the attachment and pastes it into a new email so I don't get the chain or contacts of where it came from. He constantly introduces me as "my employee" or "works for me." I found out today that he put out an RFQ for tools for a new line without consulting anyone.

The director doesn't like him but it seems he can't do anything because he is protected, probably by his union ties. Basically treats me like a mushroom. Keeps me in the dark and feeds me shit.

Anyone have advice on dealing with this personality or am I just being a whiny bitch that should suck it up and make my money?

 

document everything, dates and times he fucks up. Yes he's protected, but if you have documented proof on his slip ups then he can be fired.

That's what I was told if i ever want to get rid of someone I need prior documentation as to why I'm getting rid of them .

 

I don't really have any advice as far as how to deal with this dude, but you aren't being whiny from what I can tell. I mean, heck, you spend at a minimum 40 hours of your life a week at this place. It shouldn't be miserable. Just sucks that if something doesn't get done or done properly sounds like you're the one to get the bad end of the deal. Only thing I can think of is relocate your talents elsewhere if this dude is untouchable.

also I was told those documented fuck ups that people make I should send into HR each time so it's officially documented and not just botched on my end.
