Anyone have this happen on an 18? It seems like the posters in this thread have 16/17's.

Just took my 2017 into Stadium Toyota in Tampa. I ran my truck through the car wash and had water drizzling in the back of the truck. They said it was a known issue and covered under warranty, it took around 2 weeks to get the back light in and called before saying "The part is somewhere in galactic space on back order" and offered me a rental Tacoma. Pretty happy with the service over there. :)

Noticed mine leaking the other day after a torrential downpour here in VA. Keeping it undercover till I can get it back to the dealer. If its such a common problem WTH didn't they issue a recall?

Mine was just "fixed" by the dealer. Will run through the car wash today to test out. They re-installed the gasket and tightened it to specs. Their water "specialist" stated it was not tight enough from the factory.

Just got this one - it's a work in progress.....
I had this happen, too. In addition to the brake light, I insisted they replace the headliner, too -- which they did without a fuss -- but I had to insist on it.

Maybe there is no official TSB out yet and the service manager just used the wrong terms? But he definitely acknowledged it was a known problem and immediately said it was covered under warranty. I would take it to the dealership you purchased the truck from and talk directly to the head service manager.

Interesting. I literally had this EXACT same issue with my 2016 Ram 1500. Oddly enough that’s a known issue with those as well.

T-SB-0055-18 Parts are on Back order and no idea when the part is coming in. My Tacoma is 2016 with 41K miles on it. Local Dealer will not cover it and $412.00 to replace the light. My headliner is badly stained. Dealer will try to clean it, but no guarantees. Went back to Dealer I bought and he said that it wouldn't be covered under the original warranty because it is a wear item(gasket). Opened up a claim with Toyota Customer Care. Should have received a call back today but nothing yet. Also had purchased a extended warranty though the dealer but found out it he set it up with a third party and they will not cover anything.

Wow that sucks, 3rd party extended warranties are a joke, hopefully the claim you opened up will cover it.

My 2017 Tacoma double cab is leaking at the 3rd brake light. Almost $700 and I’m 1,000 out of my warranty. What can I do to get Toyota to recall this error so I can get my money back??

File a complaint with corporate. Insist that this is a know factory design/installation flaw.

Question for those that had the leaks. Was it prominent in the center?? Crazy thing is I have a leak but it’s at the headliner on the sides and dry in the middle which makes me think it’s the roof rack. I unbolted the roof rack bolts (didn’t remove the roof rack) and poured silicone in the hole then bolted it backed up and still a leak when I go through the car wash.

I have a 2017 TRD OR with 7900 miles. I haven't noticed any leaking, but I have noticed a lot of condensation on the inside of the windows. I would like to take it to my dealer, but with no leak I am sure they won't fix the 3rd brake light....

wait wait wait wait... I have a 2011 DCSB.

A few weeks back... at the car wash I noticed water inside my cab on the rear middle seats and the sliding window. I thought maybe the sliding window wasn't shut all the way or somehow water got in. But now I'm wondering if it was the 3rd brake light.

I’ll keep an eye on mine. So far the truck has been flawless.
