Serious question: Do you guys actually use your tents that much to justify driving with it on 24/7? Is it just a fashion statement?

Funny you ask. I was trying to make my own system for removal and mounting of a rtt, but did some searching today for any that are already being sold. I couldn't really find any good ones. For now, it is "for show". I just got and started using a rtt last month for the first time. The wifey helped me put it on the truck, but I don't want to keep asking her or someone else to help me take it on and off for every use. Besides, I don't drive the Taco everyday, so it's currently the storage spot for the rtt in our apartment's subterranean parking spot.

This is the best looking system I've found, so far, but I couldn't find it for sale: http://www.homecrux.com/pitch-camp-car-truck-cvt-rooftop-tent/24594/
The maker of the tent we have, Tepui, also has some kind of "storage system", if you'd want to call it that: https://tepui.com/products/skycamp
However, I'm not sure how we'd be able to store it in our apartment's parking garage on the skycamp...

Couple of months have gone by with no mods. So today I added the MobTown transmission skid plate. Pretty easy install. Bolts right up to their front skid. Some might say this is overkill for Florida but not for Moab! Now I need to save up for the rear bumper. Stay tuned.

Good question. The same might be said of bike or kayak racks. To me, the easier something is to use, the more often it will get used. Constantly, or frequently, mounting and removing something gets old after a while. A friend and I both have inflatable paddle boards. She prefers to inflate/deflate every time she uses it, I prefer to leave mine inflated, store it in the garage that way and toss on my roof for local paddles. To me, her way is a hassle and if I had to do it that way all the time, I wouldn't go as often as I do. Lastly, a lot of people would consider our trucks (jeeps, etc.) with big steel bumpers, winch, lifts, large tires etc. fashion statements.

I hope that is temporary with just zip ties? I think the grill will block quite a bit if light there. Imo

How does your inflatable compare to the hard foam ones? I have a inflatable Kayak and I hate it compared to regular ones, it doesn't glide thru the water well and is hard to paddle
