My dealer called me today after i dropped my 16 off last night and said they drove my truck 5 miles and it showed no codes and they say my trans is up to date, so they refused to run the update, any ideas on what other options i have?

Had mine scheduled in for 9:30 this morning.. Back out the door by 10:30. Pretty sure they never even test drove it :)

And yes, in the 40 or so miles I put on it today I definitely felt a difference in how it shifts. MUCH better
We shall see how it feels after the transmission "learning" is done.

Which dealer did you talk to? I hit Beechmont Toyota yesterday with the printed TSB’s in hand. Soonest they could get me in is two weeks. Told me the same... had to leave it for the day so they can try to duplicate the problem. They also mentioned it might not be covered under warranty...mine is a 17 with just over 6k.

Where did you go and who did you see? I want to just go in and tell them to update the software without the "cant replicate complaint" BS

    Thanks!

I went to performance fairfield where i bought it, ive never had a problem getting things like this done before but I also talked to a different service advisor, he said everything was up to date on the work order when i picked it up. That’s impossible since i only get oil changes once a year due to low mileage and the last one ive had was last November

I actually just called corporate and told them my issue and they said the 0058-18 update was just released on 7/9/2018 so theres no way mine has been done, the sent my case to escalations and they will be in contact with me.

So further investigation after rereading the TSB........stumble at wide open throttle. I talked to the service advisor and if not replicated they will not do the reflash.

So basically beat the shit out of my truck and waste all my gas and maybe it will stumble.

    NO THANKS

gotta find the right dealer guys. Pops took his truck into Simi Valley toyota here in socal and they did the reflash without question or trying to replicate the issue.

Yup, trust me had the same experience with my 2nd gen and getting an ECU reflash tsb. There are 4 toyota dealers within a 20mi radius from where i live. Ventura toyota (where i bought my truck) said they would have to replicate the issue, Oxnard toyota said and i quote "yeah you dont want us to do that reflash, we bricked a tacomas ecu yesterday doing that exact TSB", Thousand oaks toyota looked at me like a bunch of idiots and didnt understand a word i said....

Then I called Simi Toyota, first person I talked to i gave the TSB number and hes like, oh yeah the spark knock TSB, bring your truck on in we will have you out in an hour. Sure as shit, they reflashed without questioning or wasting anyones time.

Scheduled an appointment with North Hollywood Toyota for tomorrow at 8am. They said it'll be done by 9-9:30am. No questions asked. I'll keep y'all posted on how it feels once it's done.

I took the TSB in and gave it to her. I was out in less than one hour.

Anyone in the Dallas area know which dealer is friendly to doing TSBs? I bought at Atkinson and the sales dude seemed reasonable, no BS when I bought the truck. Not sure how they are about service though.

    10k service and the 2 engine/transmission TSB’s 0058-16 and 0062-18 performed.

Initial impressions are good, with only 10miles of driving from the dealership to home.
The stumble is significantly mitigated and there is less gas peddle modulation required to get the transmission to downshift while in traffic. I haven’t tested the WOT issue yet. Overall the truck doesn’t feel as anemic as it did before I dropped it off.

The rear end noise or vibration TSB 0023-18 was not performed, which is OK as I bet I was just being sensitive after reading about it.

They did however fail to change my signal from 3 to 5 as I requested.

Oh and they washed it which means the Haboob will be returning directly to make it a total mess again.
