Im new to the forum I have a 2015 Tacoma and a 2015 4Runner
I would like to put rock lights on both would your switch work for the 4Runner also and would you know by chance how to install
I am very much clueless on both sorry wiring kinda scares me don’t want to mess anything up but would also like to be able to do it myself!! Would really appreciate any help you could give!!! Thank you!!

 

i have a rgbw rock light and want it to come on when i unlock my door. is this needed for my rock lights to turn on with the dome lights, or is there another way?

 

Supposedly that what it does it will make the rock light come on when you unlock the door or open the door and other function also. He has a video on its functions just have to look for it on this forum believe it’s on the first or second page. Really hoping he responds back soon wanting to do the rock lights on my Tacoma and 4Runner!!! Also is your rock light Bluetooth reason I’m asking cause not sure how that would work without a switch since you turn the light on with your cellphone correct?

Yeah me too!!! I’m really wanting to install the rock lights myself with the dome but don’t want to mess anything up and I called my local stereo shop and they want to charge me 400.00 to do it when I know for a fact I can do it myself for a fraction of the price!!!!

Can you send me a link to your lights? And how are they wired? I assume a control box for bluetooth but is it wired to 12V+ Constant or 12V+ ACC?

I am not sure on the 4Runner but I would assume its the same setup. But I could not tell you which wire to probe for the dome light negative trigger. Would have to do my research there. As far as the tacoma its pretty easy if you already have the rock lights installed... There is a build thread that @pwalnut did that I reference in the first few posts for the rock lights install. The harness is an easy addition as long as you follow the instructions.

No I don’t have the rock lights yet
But kinda same question as fezzy
I want to get the GRB rock lights
But not sure how that would work since it’s turned off and on by Bluetooth
I’m assuming that I would have to have a additional power switch also to work with the dome light correct or some kind of connection to the lights itself to work with the dome light. I guess I’m not getting it when it comes to the Bluetooth cause how would you make the lights turn on with the dome light???

How do you have it wired. I imagine it has a control module...

Is it wired to 12V+ Constant (Always On) and you switch through the app?

Or is it wired to 12V+ ACC (When Ignition is on) and it turns on with ignition?

 

I believe you can do it either way
I was going to do it directly to the battery. So I think it has constant power and then it turns off and on with the phone.

Where is the green wire to the cargo light? Also does it matter that my truck is a 2015 is the wiring the same? You and pwalnut have 2017 correct?

Just realized I do not have a cargo switch on my 2015 Tacoma so in pwalnut’s diagram for the rock lights would I just disregard the #2 red wire connecting to the cargo switch or would I have to put it elsewhere else to make everything function properly?

 

i dont have em wired up, still in the box i opened it, its needs to be runned to the battery or something. add me to the "official" list
