Corbeau seats baja xrs Install in 1998 toyota tacoma sr5 extra cab

Here are some pictures of these great seats installed. Had them in for maybe 4 hours and I love them already.
Things you need:
•Ratchet
•14mm socket
•15mm socket
•Hex wrench
•2 bolts for seat belt grade 7 minimum if you wish to keep OEM seat belt.
• Philip's screw driver

What you gotta do:
•Unplug battery
•Take OEM seats out
•Install after market brackets to aftermarket seats
• intall after market seats into truck.
• connect battery and bam!

Note: if you plan to keep OEM seat belts you have to take apart 60/40 seats just to get the buckle out. Pretty easy. Just look for all the bolts and screws to under on the OEM seats.



These seats are worth the $$$ only one complaint on my end. They should offer the bolts to retain OEM seats on their website!

 

Update on how seats handle as daily driver day 1. I have to jump in my truck differently so I don't destroy the side support on the bottom part of the seat. I definitely felt more secure and felt like I could take sharper corners faster so that is good and bad.

Haha, yup it’s funny but you can take curves faster and you don’t fall out of the chair anymore.
I love my Corbeau seats too, but the bolster was an issue.

The driver side bolster is tall and will eventually collapse because you are dragging all your weight over it.

Mine collapsed after 6 months.
So I took the one seat to an auto upholstery shop and they lowered the bolster on the lower seat bolster section and Reinforced that section with carpet underneath the fabric so far everything is worked out perfect.
Cost was 125.00
I had 4 runner seats before and there’s no comparison with these.

 

Looks really nice! I am hoping it will last longer then 6 months. Just gotta baby them. I plan to keep a update every so often on the seats and how they perform.

If you ever wanna sell your center console let me know haha. That's my next upgrade

 

No have to keep the console,
If you need to address the bolster it’s not that big a deal, just know it’s coming and lowering it and
adding better support will fix it

 

thank you. Maybe when It happens I I'll document it and let people know how much I spent to get them re done. I know when I lift it that will make jumping in and not messing them up alot harder :/

 

How do these compare height wise to the factory buckets?? I like the height from the floor the factory set but the seats are obviously crap.

 

The seat brackets are lower than the stock seat brackets. All the space I had under my stock seats for my emergency tool bag is gone. I feel my ride height as I drive hasn't changed to much maybe a little higher

 

My seats are NOT a suspension seat so they sit lower. I had the 4Runner seats in before and my head clearance was not that good at 6 foot 1,
With these seats I have probably 5” head room and more leg room. You can add spacers from Corbeau if you want them higher.

So at the 5 month mark with these seats! In the last month i lifted my truck with all pro "pro" suspension kit blisten 650lbs shock and expedition springs carrying capacity of 450lbs till sagging occurs with ap upper control arms. I told you that beacuse now with these seats in and brand new stiff aftermarket suspension i can really feel the pressure in my back after a 4 hour drive almost every weekend from north carolina to virgina. I opted for the lumbar support feature (worth it). If you dont figure out the right amount of pumps to get support but not over support your back will definitely feel it. I dont drive leaned back nor do i drive hunched over. I have some advanced driving courses under my belt and they teach posture while driving a vehicle. My recommendation as of right now is definitely get the seats! No wear on the driver side bolster yet! If you lift your truck to support load carrying for heavy bumpers or hauling make sure you actually have the weight on the truck if not you definitely feel the stiffniss on the suspension

 

Do those seats fold forward so you can get behind them? Also, what does "suspension" mean?

Yes they fold not as far as stock seats but yes they fold. No real issues with getting gear or people in the back even my oversized sub box comes in and out pretty easily
